	12:50pm Franco Twinkie: That was so fine! The Latin Playboys took their name from a bar in East L.A. It's still there last time I looked, but it's boarded up and neglected looking. Ugly/beautiful could be used to describe it.

Then, when the tix came in my email, realized I can't go. I think they'll take them back (with a service charge, of course), damn!

	1:05pm Stork: Again, I'm hearing some distortion - both on the sub-bassy bits and the super high frquencies - definitely not over-modulating, and only hearing it it in the air signal, not my board.

	1:20pm Stork: This tune sounds okay on the air, I think. It's not every tune. Overall sound is a little muzzy, all the same. COuld be many things - my A/D converters, my headphones - or something else in the chain going from me to your Audio Heads.
	1:21pm adamdoesit: coel, that's what I try to tell people, but do I listen? Speaking of eeeeeee, I think my hearing has taken another quantum dip in quality. That isn't a distortion in the signal; it's one in my audiohead. I know I should avoid noise. Clapping on headphones and turning it up for a few hours feels like burning a match.

	1:33pm Franco Twinkie: Oh, that towering feeling! I bought that Neil Young album, 5D by the Byrds and the first album by The Grateful Dead in one swoop when I was sixteen. Sigh.
	1:33pm adamdoesit: coel, "a song of love" feels right for a tribute album. I just preordered the LP. My wife's been a Yoko fan for a long time; the Get Back doc made me one, too. TDK, one of the better things I did during the pandemic was to quit Spotify and use FMU and especially the drummer stream in its place. No regrets there.

I have a free Spotify, thinking of deleting it (don't really like it, but sometimes useful). Had TIDAL, also cancelled, and Amazon music, also cancelled, can't listen to so much stuff, hard to navigate, etc.

	1:47pm coelacanth∅: if you use spotify for whole albums, research and your own created playlists there's nothing to not like about it -from a user standpoint. the sound quality isn't analogue, of course, but it sure beats the hell out of youboob sound quality (which several wfmu show hosts seem to use heavily)

	2:01pm Stork: I first heard Yupanqui like the first day in the WFMU record library, ca. 1993. Their nascent CD collection contained a CD just called Ata - his nickname. He's much older on that album, but his voice just got more and more incredible with age. And what a life! en.wikipedia.org...

	2:10pm doctorjazz: I've been lazy about playlists on Spotify, and when you try for an artist, it gives you about 10 songs that keep repeating, had to stop using it that way.
	2:12pm Stork: My mom had Spotify at one point and I would try to program Sinatra for her. It would play Frank for a while, then veer off into other stuff THEY thought you'd wanna hear next - there's something so dreary about it. OK, let's just listen to what Jane and Joe Blow would listen to at this point. Sooner or later, you're hearing Michael Buble, and reaching for your carbine.

	2:17pm coelacanth∅: i've never once used spotify for it's own playlists or it's algorithms. i wouldn't. i have created my own playlists though, at least 110 of them. i spent quite a lot of time on my Neil Young playlist! oh well. i also have 10 (?) african music playlists, between 500-600 songs each. there's no way i'd ever hear this music otherwise.
	2:18pm TDK60: I care more that dangerous quacks are okay with big social media, this or that internet tech outfit.
	2:19pm doctorjazz: One of these days may put some together. Now it's just easier to go to Bandcamp, play something I've purchased there that I haven't listened to very much (I LOVE Bandcamp!!!).

	3:21pm Stork: Yeah, a really good hybrid thing, TDK60. It alternates between medieval monadic music and Indian Ragas - sometimes mixing the two, sometimes not. Very interesting record.

	3:23pm Stork: Especially Badal Roy's tablas, David in London. He played a bunch of them at once instead of the traditional two. Irene did a GREAT tribute to him a couple weeks back, including a live recording of him, done for Live at the Stork Club and engineered by - yup, Irene. She played a track from that, and we will air more.

TDK, one of the better things I did during the pandemic was to quit Spotify and use FMU and especially the drummer stream in its place. No regrets there.

It would play Frank for a while, then veer off into other stuff THEY thought you'd wanna hear next - there's something so dreary about it. 	2:17pm coelacanth∅: i've never once used spotify for it's own playlists or it's algorithms. i wouldn't. i have created my own playlists though, at least 110 of them. i spent quite a lot of time on my Neil Young playlist! oh well. i also have 10 (?) african music playlists, between 500-600 songs each. there's no way i'd ever hear this music otherwise.
