WR:

Hi Sam et al. Listening as doing some home chores.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm
Sam Segal:

It certainly wouldn't surprise me, headcleaner! And for all we know, they're still there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
Sam Segal:

Howdy, WR! Let's hope this UK 2-step helps you push through your chores a bit faster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm
Sam Segal:

Excited to check this out, Webhamster Henry!

TDK60:

Hi Sam! Is that Allen St. in the Lower East Side?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
Sam Segal:

That's the one, TDK! Based on Google Maps, it appears it is still a vacant lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Doug Schulkind:

Sam Live Crew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm
Ike:

My first exposure to 2 Live Crew was when I was a kid playing old-school arcade games in a hotel on vacation somewhere, I think Florida, and some older kids came in with a boombox blasting a Romeo-and-Juliet-themed song where they were rapping "Big! Black! Dick!" loudly and I was thinking, like... WTF? I'm just trying to play Donkey Kong here, man.
  10:23pm
Pie:

Fun song 🎵
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Sam Segal:

Doug! Ike! Pie! Three's a crew! Great to see you all.
  10:26pm
rw:

Goood Evening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm
Sam Segal:

rw! Please, make yourself at home.
  10:28pm
rw:

Thanks, man. Listening and working.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
Sam Segal:

@Ike, I had no idea 2 Live Crew were such bardolators!
  10:29pm
rw:

While sipping tea and eating cookies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
Sam Segal:

What's your go-to tea and cookie combo, rw?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
doctorjazz:

Hey, Horsemen!
Nice one to arrive to!
Avatar 10:33pm
Constantly Choking:

Happy international horse day! What did I miss?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Ike:

Those Holiday Inn arcade game rooms were engines of iniquity, I suppose. Sometimes Coily rises by sin, sometimes Q*Bert by virtue falls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Sam Segal:

Big ups to you, Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, CC! You missed me riffing aimlessly about the 90s hip-hop group 2 Live Crew.
  10:42pm
rw:

Sam, I usually go to whatever is in the cabinet. Tonight I've got some kind of english breakfast tea (with milk) and a shortbread cookie topped with dark chocolate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm
Sam Segal:

Sounds like a perfect pairing. English breakfast at night! Your caffeine tolerance is impressive, rw.
Avatar 10:44pm
Constantly Choking:

sorry I missed it, love a good meander
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Sam Segal:

Oh I am sure there'll be more meandering in store for you tonight, CC, not to worry.
  10:47pm
rw:

It's three hours earlier here. I've got some time. And a ton of work to finish! Sorry to report the meandering was a little lost on me. I think I skipped the '90s. Though I'm with CC. I do appreciate a good meander.
Avatar 10:49pm
TDK60:

Music of My Mind blew mine. It had new sounds, especially its use of synths. a new '70s sound. '72 right? (Where's Gaylord?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
doctorjazz:

Meandering is how we stumble into something interesting...
Avatar 10:50pm
Constantly Choking:

bummed I missed the UK Garage song, I'll have to earmark to look up later
Avatar 10:50pm
Constantly Choking:

DrJazz, I agree!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
Sam Segal:

'72 is correct, TDK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm
Sam Segal:

@CC, you might enjoy all three songs in that opening min-set. All three were UK Garage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
doctorjazz:

I expected really "out", maybe abrasive, from a CryptoGrammaphone release... This is lovely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm
Sam Segal:

I was similarly surprised when I first checked it out, Doc. The Smudges have recorded with both Alex and Nels Cline, which also suggested more of an out vibe, but not on that track.
Avatar 11:12pm
Constantly Choking:

Oh nice Thanks Sam, I'll definitely revisit the first set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm
coelacanth∅:

good evening Sam & horse people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm
doctorjazz:

Threadgill! That flute and tuba combination, almost a trademark by now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
Sam Segal:

Hello, Horse-Canth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
Sam Segal:

@Doc, the presence of the oud on that Zooid album adds a unique element to the Threadgill sound.
  11:22pm
rw:

Nice segue there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm
Sam Segal:

Thanks, rw. I love when I can pull off a nice segue, be it on the radio or when I'm riding my segue around town!
  11:26pm
rw:

I've never tried riding a segue around town but I would like to some day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
Sam Segal:

So would I.
Avatar 11:30pm
Constantly Choking:

oh man, this reminds me of that Raga episode you had Sam, that was so good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm
Sam Segal:

Ah, I'm glad you liked it, CC! I should do another raga special. I've been collecting a lot of great Indian classical tracks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm
doctorjazz:

That was a terrific segue and set!
Avatar 11:37pm
Constantly Choking:

here we go, this sounds meandery....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
drowsy:

agreed Dr. Jazz! The pace went the opposite of the usual show? Proof it works either way! Thank you Sam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm
Sam Segal:

Thank you, Doc and Drowsy! Glad I could meander my way into a nice, unusually paced set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
doctorjazz:

I think you pronounce Mark Helias' name Hell-lie-ass (but I could be wrong). Saw him before plague times with BassDrumBone in downtown Manhattan, great set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm
Sam Segal:

Ah good catch, Doc. I didn't mean to attribute any demonic qualities to Mark Helias!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm
doctorjazz:

Switched to headphones for the tail end of the show, going really quickly, Sam...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
Sam Segal:

It crept up on me as well...too much meandering!
Avatar 11:56pm
Constantly Choking:

beautiful show, beautiful send off. Thanks Sam! Everyone!
  11:57pm
rw:

Nice. Thank you Sam! Good night everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm
doctorjazz:

Loved the show, Sam, thanks, night, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm
Sam Segal:

Thanks, rw and CC! I couldn't help but close out with one good ol' sentimental piano trio number.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am
doctorjazz:

Bill Evans, you didn't post who, but it couldn't be anyone else. Very, Very nice, thanks
Avatar 12:00am
Constantly Choking:

It's a good one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am
doctorjazz:

Eddie Gomez sounding very much Scott LaFaro in this trio (don't have this, very nice)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am
Sam Segal:

I love Sinatra's version of this tune. Check it out, if you get a chance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01am
doctorjazz:

Was very close to going to see Vijay Iyer at the Vanguard, he's there this week. The pandemic had me chicken out...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am

The xylophone means we're done (need to go to sleep anyway), thanks again, Sam!
