headcleaner:

That coulda been my car
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm
Gary:

Get away from my car, headcleaner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm
Sam Segal:

Now, now, headcleaner and Gary...surely there's some reasonable way we can settle this. Perhaps you can split the car in half?
  10:10pm
rw:

So far the horse is bouncy this evening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm
chresti:

Is that an Escort?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm
chresti:

Just a week?
  10:17pm
headcleaner:

tão lindo
  10:18pm
rw:

Gary! I didn't get to the playlist in time to say thanks for the Lata Mangeshkar tribute!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, rw! The horse we're on tonight is known to start off a bit jittery. I suspect the ride will even out a bit as we move along.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm
Sam Segal:

@Chresti, yes, actually just about three days of actual trial. It was a pretty straightforward personal injury suit. But it definitely wrapped up faster than I was anticipating.
  10:21pm
rw:

Sounding good. I'm imagining the broadcast as wafting out through the windows of headcleaner's and Gary's car.
  10:23pm
rw:

headcleaner and Gary are inside smoking a joint and giggling of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm
Sam Segal:

Sounds like a perfect way for them to squash their disagreement over who owns the car!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm
chresti:

Yeah I didn't really agree with the most of the jury, I didn't think it was the hotel's fault that a kid fell out of a window while mom and dad were both there.
Avatar 10:27pm
TDK60:

Hi Sam. I've been down that stretch of Pearl St.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm
Sam Segal:

Any sign of Gary and headcleaner's car when you were there, TDK?
  10:29pm
rw:

A kid fell out the window? Were they okay? Totally the hotel's fault for installing windows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm
chresti:

We all kind of met halfway, they got some money for the kid but not 2 million for possible future complications jr. might have later in life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm
coelacanth∅:

greetings Sam, stablemates
  10:31pm
rw:

Greetings, coelacanth
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
chresti:

Ha rw, they were fine.
  10:33pm
rw:

Jr's gonna have complications later in life. That's for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
coelacanth∅:

hey rw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
Sam Segal:

Good evening, Coel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
chresti:

Especially if his parents keep throwing him out the window.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
coelacanth∅:

okay all i know about this story i've learned on this comments board, but it seems to me the parents should've been fined whatever the hotel got fined -to be put in an interest bearing account to be given to the child at the age of 18 (if he/she makes it that far)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm
_Ike_:

Hey, stop hotboxing inside my horse while falling out of a window!
Avatar 10:46pm
TDK60:

I've never heard of palm wine music before tonight, I think. I thought it was early Caribbean calypso. It makes sense if there are cross influences.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
chresti:

Yeah, all kids need an interest bearing account they can have when they turn 18.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
coelacanth∅:

(woulda helped me out a bit)
Avatar 10:48pm
TDK60:

I was gonna say, since we got the slow horse out of the path, we can let the rest of the listeners ride on through on our horses, in line, as you steer us across the plains of ambience.
  10:48pm
Ron R. Dadoo:

Recently visited Mississippi Records, the store in Portland. Good selection, lotsa fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Sam Segal:

Don't be a buzzkill, Ike! If people want to hot box your horse while falling out a window, what business is it of yours?!
Avatar 10:52pm
TDK60:

Ron - I used to live there and haunted that place constantly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
chresti:

*although 25 should be the age they can have it. 18 yo would just spend it on music and drugs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, Ron! I've never been to Portland, but when I finally make it out there, the Mississippi store will be one of my first stops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
chresti:

I visit. Mississippi records on bandcamp
  10:57pm
Ron R. Dadoo:

I picked up a used William Hooker LP recorded on Doug Schulkind's show, engineered by Irene Trudel, among other goodies, including new records on the house label.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm
_Ike_:

I know it's controversial, but I'm of the opinion that hollowing out my horse so you can crawl inside of it, smoke joints, and giggle ruins the horse.

Of course, it's a wooden horse, and I *was* thinking of invading Philadelphia with it, so maybe not. But it messed up the lacquer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm
i̺k̺e̺:

*might mess up

The Miss Rec. store at the time had a little sign above the door: "Love over gold."

DL in LA:

If we’re in a vehicle, how many people get this reference: “I call shotgun!” I grew up in Wyoming so maybe it’s a regional thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome to the horseless carriage, DL! I grew up calling shotgun in Minnesota, so the phrase definitely made its way to the Upper Midwest.
  11:09pm
Jeff g. via app:

Tis good night kitchen cleaning music. Hey, Sam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
Sam Segal:

Nice to see you, Jeff! Some of my most ecstatic moments occur when listening to music and cleaning the kitchen after a long day.
Avatar 11:16pm

I was just doing the dishes.

Scobot:

Great selections! Such a nice respite from the other programming tonight. Good balance of talk and tunes.
  11:18pm
rw:

I don't remember calling shotgun when I was a kid in SoCal in the '60s and '70s, but by the '80s I'm pretty sure we did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm
coelacanth∅:

chresti (@1052) i was thinking along the lines of that's the age a person can legally leave home without permission
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
coelacanth∅:

...but of course what you say is true, in most cases.
i actually might not have. or so i probably lie to myself by saying...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
Sam Segal:

I'm so glad you're digging the show, Scobot! I always wonder if I'm hitting the right mix between jabbering and jamming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
Sam Segal:

I haven't had the pleasure of calling shotgun in many years. It doesn't come up so often in NYC.
  11:25pm
Scobot:

Sam, you hit the balance and your info is priceless. Will definitely be listening in the future.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm
coelacanth∅:

pretty sure the first time i heard someone call shotgun was when i was at least 20 years old, and in nj.
i've heard it many times since, mostly upstate ny
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm

Pretty!
Horseshoe trouble, kept me busy and late.

It'll be an honor to have you aboard for future radio journeys, Scobot!

@doc: happyapplemusic.bandcamp.com (looks like dig only, tho; you might be in luck)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm
Sam Segal:

Glad you dug the Happy Apple, Ignore Function. They are from Minneapolis/St. Paul, where I grew up. Very important band to me. All of their music is well worth checking out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm
doctorjazz:

Thanks, Jeff-they're all only digital downloads. One of these days (when I get my backup situation together) I'll go for more digital downloads; since I lose my digital only music when I crash, I still like physical media.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
Sam Segal:

One nice thing about Bandcamp is that they'll let you re-download the music as much as you want.
  11:52pm
rw:

Gary and headcleaner are still in the car, but they're kind of zoning out now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm

That's true, I'm less worried about losing stuff I get on Bandcamp, love the site!!!!
