	🥁 10:50am doctorjazz: It is pretty difficult to figure out what/who pushed Trane "out"; you'd have to figure Ornette and Cecil had to play SOME part in moving him in that direction (seems a bit like asking "did Louis Armstrong influence jazz musicians in the 20s and 30s, or did Bird influence them in the 40s). Fred-I should be starting in shedding "stuff" mode, but I've entered collect as much as you can manage mode instead.
	10:50am abbazabba: Transitions into bass solos seem forced sometimes in jazz tunes. This one was perfect. Almost like nothing else could be coming but that bass solo

He was after all juggling Mastery of Hard Bop changes almost simultaneously with being fully invested in Modal ...getting totally Free might have taken him a couple more years - getting it all in before passing away in 1967.

Listened to one of the Branford concerts at a friend's house, was fun to hear. Garcia is supposed to have said to Marsalis, as he was preparing him to play Dark Star, something like "It's only 2 chords, but the kids seem to enjoy it".

Listened to one of the Branford concerts at a friend's house, was fun to hear. Garcia is supposed to have said to Marsalis, as he was preparing him to play Dark Star, something like "It's only 2 chords, but the kids seem to enjoy it".
