Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from February 18, 2022 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

@Dutchtheo, re: bowed bass solos. I do like them, usually bass players have more flexibility, speed when playing bowed (if they're good at it). On the other hand, I can do without 80-90% of bass solos, period-the bass player with good melodic improv skills is rare indeed, doesn't come automatically with being a great bass player for accompaniment.

The Brits - ironically - gave us little white U.S. American boys a pretty succinct & powerful 101 course in U.S. American Blues & R&B. The Stones gave the broad view ...but the yARdbiRdS did it for actually playing it on Gittar. Elementary to the Players - but probably still under appreciated by the general Masses, this is. I like thinking I'm just old enuff to be like all the Garage bands who plugged straight into the Yardies for it !... Of course - the Brits made R&B into Maximum R&B with speed & too much Amplification - & yes Privilege, which gave everything a different drive & context & meaning ...& yet, where the Forms survive, the Content may @ times be Called Forth Again...

@unclemichael - i contracted Covid in early January, triple-vaxxed and very little contact with anyone for the preceding weeks. It began as a tickle in my throat (for me always a sign of an oncoming cold/sickness) which progressed to a crescendo of the most painful sore throat ever. On the eve of the 3rd real day of symptoms, it all subsided. I was tired, achy, a bit congested, but never did I have a fever, or any other symptoms. Tylenol, liquids, EmergenC, chicken soup, and the STRONGEST COUGH DROPS available, were my friends. Hope that helps if it's that nasty visitor. Hopefully, it's just something more common...
