	♥ 9:52am Handy Haversack: My peak bowling experience was at a wedding in the Adirondacks. We were at I think Coolidge's old summer White House, and there was an old-style bowling alley where you had to set the pins up yourself. A nice buzz while sitting behind the barricade and listening to the smash of the balls against it and the thunder of the pins was as good as bowling can get. For me at any rate.

	♥ 9:54am dday: There was (possibly still there) a manual pin set bowling alley on the second floor of Rohman's Inn in Shohola, PA (where I live, in Shohola not Rohman's). The Inn itself has history as it was used as a Civil War hospital & transport depot for captured confederate soldiers. I looked into buyin the place years ago but since it's on the Historical Register all renovations have to conform to certain standards which are quite expensive (original tin ceilings etc.) The funky bar is still open. Cool small saddle type seats that are on brass pins that fold into the front cavity of the bar when not in use.

	♥ 10:04am dday: @dale: A funny Schaffer beer story from my HS days: My friend George had a neighbor (adult) Doug who Loved Schaffer. We used to hang & party in George's garage. One day, Doug comes in from work all excited & out of breath & comes to the garage to get us. We go to his car & it's filled, every square inch, except where he needs to see out the front window & by the floor pedals with cans of Schaffer. It seems he was coming home & a beer delivery truck overturned. He stopped & the driver said "take all you want, insurance will cover it." So Doug did. I have never seen a happier man.

I think that means there are three Fausts now (the Irmler Faust, the Zappi Faust, and the Jean-Herve Peron Faust). I think I'm a Peronista, if I have to choose.

	♥ 10:14am Phillippe: When I was in college I worked in a liquor store in a downtrodden part of Glen Burnie (said as if there's a good part of Glen Burnie). Schaeffer was our top-selling beer, and except for some competition from Bud, it wasn't even close. Stanley, the owner, used to run a sale once a month, case of disposable bottles for $5.49. Side note, Stanley was the only person I ever met who used the term "for a few pennies more..." face-face-face with an actual person.

	10:23am ?!: I think I was about four or five when I saw my father having a can of beer in the kitchen, so I asked him if I could have some, so he allowed me a sip, of course i made a sour face, and never asked again. I don't remember what brand it was, but it could have been Schaefer because that was the first beer brand that I can remember from when my father use to drink beer with friends and relatives out in the backyard. Funny thing was he just stopped drinking beer all together sometime in the mid-70s.

The labels would slip right off because of the humidity and the fact that the bottles had been sitting in melting ice for awhile, and I still have labels with bad sharpied cartoons scrawled on the backs somewhere. They stopped for some reason--$3 bottles of Utica Club just wasn't the same.

So when I was a kid we'd sometimes go out to restaurants run by his friends or where he'd waited tables, and he might have an Heineken or an Campari and soda. And then he would get a VERY wistful expression indeed.
	10:35am ?!: I guess that was a generic and boring story I know, but it's the earliest one that I have about Schaefer. That and I have an old fluorescent Schaefer sign that I'm guessing is from the early 1960s.

	♥ 10:47am PaulRobeson1920: The Liver is responsible for distributing fat evenly over the entire body. “Beer Belly” is caused by a stressed Liver. The liver stores fat more easily around the mid section, so when the liver is taxed/stressed/overworked fat is sent to the belly 1st.

	♥ 10:52am coelacanth∅: RR in high school i decided i needed to gain weight so i started drinking a milk/ice-cream/raw egg drink at least every other day. it worked, i gained 5# in just a few weeks (maybe a month) then got sick from clogging my body up with all that shit. sick for a few weeks, lost ~10 #.

	11:58am ?!: You know what beer I hate, Budweiser! I call it the turncoat beer! Why? Because it sold out to a foreign interest. Some people might ask so why is that a big deal? Well I'll tell you why. Anyone growing up anytime during there adolescence discovering things like drinking beer would certainly know Budweiser, if you didn't know any other beer brand you knew Budweiser if you drink it or not. It was so ubiquitous brand that is was up there with Mom's Apple pie, cheeseburgers, Elvis Presley, and baseball, all things that describe America. And Budweiser certainly was America's number one and well known beer that the whole world knew and affiliated with America. I know that when I started drinking beer Budweiser was amongst the first brand of beers that I drank and certainly the most frequent one like most of Americans youth. I felt good about Budweiser, it was proud to say it's America's beer, so when they sold out it was no longer an American product, and that cheese me off. it's like saying Mom's Apple pie is no longer American or the cheeseburger etc etc. It just didn't feel right, I felt betrayed like a little bit of America has been sold off. I wasn't the only one, because sales went down at the time and other brands like yuelinger sales has increased in response. But then there was still this large segment of Americans that were just whores and didn't care because they had no pride in America or of themselves, just so long they could still get Budweiser. And I guess in time soon after that offensive bit of business action people quickly forgot about or just didn't care anymore and Budweiser sales went back up.

We were at I think Coolidge's old summer White House, and there was an old-style bowling alley where you had to set the pins up yourself. A nice buzz while sitting behind the barricade and listening to the smash of the balls against it and the thunder of the pins was as good as bowling can get. For me at any rate.

	♥ 9:54am dday: There was (possibly still there) a manual pin set bowling alley on the second floor of Rohman's Inn in Shohola, PA (where I live, in Shohola not Rohman's). The Inn itself has history as it was used as a Civil War hospital & transport depot for captured confederate soldiers. I looked into buyin the place years ago but since it's on the Historical Register all renovations have to conform to certain standards which are quite expensive (original tin ceilings etc.) The funky bar is still open. Cool small saddle type seats that are on brass pins that fold into the front cavity of the bar when not in use.

One day, Doug comes in from work all excited & out of breath & comes to the garage to get us. We go to his car & it's filled, every square inch, except where he needs to see out the front window & by the floor pedals with cans of Schaffer. It seems he was coming home & a beer delivery truck overturned. He stopped & the driver said "take all you want, insurance will cover it." So Doug did. I have never seen a happier man.

	11:58am ?!: You know what beer I hate, Budweiser! I call it the turncoat beer! Why? Because it sold out to a foreign interest. Some people might ask so why is that a big deal? Well I'll tell you why. Anyone growing up anytime during there adolescence discovering things like drinking beer would certainly know Budweiser, if you didn't know any other beer brand you knew Budweiser if you drink it or not. It was so ubiquitous brand that is was up there with Mom's Apple pie, cheeseburgers, Elvis Presley, and baseball, all things that describe America. And Budweiser certainly was America's number one and well known beer that the whole world knew and affiliated with America. I know that when I started drinking beer Budweiser was amongst the first brand of beers that I drank and certainly the most frequent one like most of Americans youth. I felt good about Budweiser, it was proud to say it's America's beer, so when they sold out it was no longer an American product, and that cheese me off. it's like saying Mom's Apple pie is no longer American or the cheeseburger etc etc. It just didn't feel right, I felt betrayed like a little bit of America has been sold off. I wasn't the only one, because sales went down at the time and other brands like yuelinger sales has increased in response. But then there was still this large segment of Americans that were just whores and didn't care because they had no pride in America or of themselves, just so long they could still get Budweiser. And I guess in time soon after that offensive bit of business action people quickly forgot about or just didn't care anymore and Budweiser sales went back up.
