And never try to build your nest on top of any tree
For the roots, they will all wither, and the branches all decay
And the beauties of a false young man, must all soon fade away

My lovely bride is
Meticulous with her teeth
Her filling failed her
Handy Haversack:
It's pretty heartbreaking stuff since my dad is young, like 12-13 in those letters I have, and clearly feels abandoned and lost and is trying to act brave for his father.
I also have the notes from the colonial governments confirming his loss at sea and a few other things.

But as Bas says, this music is always tinged with the heartache in those letters from my dad to his dad -- almost a hundred years ago!

I maintain that the piano part in "God" was lifted from "Love Letters" by Ketty Lester (1962). My theory is that it was the corrosive influence of Phil Spector which encourage Lennon to base the song on the older recording.
I haven't read anything about this, have you? Just wanted to bounce my theory off you...

Also, everyone, with full disclosure that I work for the USAian publisher (which distributes ibidem, a German press), here's an ad hoc catalogue of our books on Ukraine and Russia that we put together. ibidem has an *extensive* list in Ukraine and in post-Soviet studies:
