Mary Oliver
Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Thought is the ever evolving (by)product of a coalescence of forces and activities resident and existent since before the "Dawn of Time". There is no real (what is "called" reason) to assume nor believe that thought itself is being used correctly or necessarily, in general, at any level of existence. As an individual nor as a historical collective, combinations therein.
Thought itself is not simple, nor is it understood as a human habit of living mind. It is never complete and there is no law that determines it's necessity nor origins.

@dday...That's great! All of our cats have been recues. We have a ravine behind our house and "people" dump their animals there thinking they'll survive. We've taken in 12 cats since we moved in 30 years ago. Others we've taken to the no-kill shelter because we had too many cats at the time.

Fundraising's going to be at a quarter million bucks BEFORE THE MARATHON STARTS!! Donors have kept up the great momentum picked up during the pandemic.

You could tell $upport has been great even as the 2020 marathon was ending under conditions that were soooo adverse. Of course they fell short of goal during the period, but made it up fairly soon, and since then the spring marathon and October one have over-performed.
