EJ played two concerts in my high school gym (American School in London) back in about 1973. Was a fundraising thing for the yearbook. Wasn't super super huge quite yet, but was looking to conquer the US with Yellow Brick Road. He was roadtesting the new material on US kids. Kiki Dee opened the second concert.

I've never seen the 1971 movie "Friends" that Elton John made the music for. There was a sequel, "Paul and Michelle", that I can't find on video at all.

Hiya David! I remember loving Friends, the sequel is kinda meh.

Before the second concert, a boys high school nearby had bought a few tickets and printed a bunch of forgeries. Gym was way overcorwded, things were a little rowdy, EJ asked people to calm down. After the show, kids who worked crew saw the setlist taped to his piano and said he skipped quite a few songs. But it was still a good concert.

I've never seen that "Dear God / Tactics" single cover before -- it reminds me of how much I love finding very-loved dollarbin LPs with a previous owner's writing on them. (like circling their favorite songs, other notations, things like that)

Yes, with the Bee Gees, I would have been about 12 and unfamiliar with the visuals, and quite honestly the Beatles, - I remember being very impressed with "Here comes the Sun" by Peter Frampton, I'm nearly 60 now and still wonder into the movies and watch whatever is on. - lol - very nice ensemble of music Julie, thank you.

Alex In Illinois:

I know that I will never be able to sing or play piano as well as he does. But, as kid, his version was the first version I heard of the song, and I never knew the name of it until I heard a D.J. say it or, maybe I read the name in the Billboard top 10 that appeared in the newspaper every week.

Yes, the kids just love Hamilton. - yes, doctor jazz, American Idiot, I suppose I limited the question by saying " which would appeal to young people. - I wonder which bands were the fist to get the rock theatre thing going. I paid for my kids to go see Elton here on the Sunshine Coast and they both loved it, it turned out to be the 2nd to last show of his last tour, because everything else was cancelled by covid - just in time eh.

Dean, I'm so glad The Residents still tour. <3 I make a point of catching them every time they do; the overall "design" (audio, video, and every other aesthetic) of every tour has been so wildly different each time, even when there's no specific-theme.
