My dream guitar is a Les Paul Custom. Got the ESP LTD version of it. Originally wanted the EC-1000 T/CTM, but glad I waited for the 1001. Sounds a lot less woody and a bit more passive, even though the pickups are still active. Did a nut swap, heavier tuners (to balance the chambered body), and slapped .13's on it. 🔥

I have a limited edition Squire Bullett that is actually a TeleStrat design, made only in 85 and 86. Solid guitar, lovely tone, and a beautiful neck that plays itself.

I used to use .13s, tuned my '69 Strat down a half step (ala Hendrix) Monster tone! The neck thanked me. Bought it in 1971 for $150, still sounds and plays beautiful! Only smart thing I ever did in my life, to keep it and take care of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am

Ruth: ditto!

I work on my own guitars, because I'm cheap, and I don't want to pay anyone to do it, and I have the time, and possibly the skills. Most things are intimidating the first time, and then you realize that guitars aren't rocket science. They're pieces of wood (mostly wood), put together with screws and simple geometry.

McGroovey:

There are loads of good videos about truss rods on YouTube.

The basic idea is, the truss rod counters the pull of the strings. If your strings, at pitch, are pulling on your neck and pulling so much that your neck bows, then you tighten the truss rod--generally no more than 1/4 turn. But if your neck is straight when your strings are tuned to pitch, then the problem isn't your truss rod (if there's a problem).

It's track 8 on one of those two albums.

Don't worry, McGroovey -- they don't come up much! Basically, I'm just indulging myself here!

I loved In Search Of. I think it was on between Wild Kingdom and Lawrence Welk on Saturday evenings in Syracuse.

i've searched for that Wackie's studio in the bronx but it is no longer there. We had the street address to go by and the number was somewhere between a real estate office and shoe store now. The documentary on Wackie's studio is great.

Two of my three kids are D&D nerds. We tried to do a family D&D game, but I've kid quit out of boredom (not one of the D&D nerds), and one quit because we were having to much fun, not taking it seriously enough. The third one lives in his own house.

@HH Not familiar with Appendix T, as I only played the original old-school issue of D&D. Linky? Google not helping alas.

Handy Haversack:

Threemoons, it's in the (generally terrible) AD&D book Unearthed Arcana. "Appendix T: Nomenclature of the Polearm."

That "Flaming One" graphic at the top does not seem like
a Freudian slip
nor
"When is a Pipe not a Pipe" Maigret...
That looks like INTENTIOAL ART !!!
