Yes, hq satire has always been a trademark of theirs.

Happy midweek, all!

I caught that album, "Greatest Hats," haha.

JAN
Why do I never remember when your shows are here Ive been listening to the mainstream fmu for 28 minutes of glorious non mountain…
Avatar 12:28pm
Mr Fab:

I guess i think of Gruppo Sportivo as New Wave/alternative, at least that's how they were presented when they put out some American records. But they were ECLECTIC. Like, they seemingly try every style.
  12:29pm
wenzo toad (it/it’s):

I didn’t hear any mountains over there either but those mountains are pretty quiet sometimes they can sneak up on you…

wenzo toad (it/it’s):

The Balla From Zwolle! That’s my new nickname for Jan… I hope it catches on…
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, Hans Vandenburg tried/tries to make a 'pastiche of styles' as he calls it, often as a means to give a comment on those styles.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Jan Turkenburg:

But they often presented themselves as 'New Wave' in the early years.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Jan Turkenburg:

The Gruppo performance came as a bonus download by a limited re-issue of Back to 78. This Fatal Flowers concert is a bootleg. It might even be the first time it's being broadcast.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Jan Turkenburg:

It's three weeks after their big succes as opening act at the Pink Pop festival.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Feldy:

Is this your bootleg, Jan?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Jan Turkenburg:

No, I came across it through peer-to-peer, I assumed it was a radio broadcast, but their radio performances are very well documented and this one isn't mentioned anywhere, so it must be a bootleg then...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
MHLee:

Very Badfinger like guitar between songs here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Feldy:

I got into making bootleg recordings for a while. I loved getting home after a show to check how the recording turned out
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Do you still have them?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I just made just a few. I regret not having the guts to make more :-)
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Jan Turkenburg:

But sometimes I was just not in the mood to let it interfer with a good night out, checking the mic all the time, etc...
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
Jan Turkenburg:

They had a big hit with Younger Days, btw
Avatar 1:01pm
Mr Fab:

Same reason I don't hold up my phone and feel like I have to record a whole show. Just want to be in the moment.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:02pm
Jan Turkenburg:

But I can relate to the double fun afterwards, if a recording had succeeded.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I remember some bands started to sell USB-sticks with the recording of that actual concert if you wanted to wait 30 minutes or so. I don't know if it's still done.

Zwolse Bollen? I thought Den Bosch had the bollen. I knew of Arnhemsche meisjes, Deventer (en Groninger) koek, Fryske Dûmkes, and Zeeuwsche bolussen. But yes, the Zwolsche Bol is filled with Advocaat, whipped cream and Farmer Boys.
