	3:15pm Kittimu: I'm from Colorado, I keep looking for local bands but it's a total glam rock dead zone over here

	3:16pm Debbie Davenport: I used to think Eugene Oregon was like that. Until I saw this dox thing, where folks were encouraged to continue the beatings up in Portland. They had chased the glam boy out of eugene.
	3:17pm Kittimu: Ok, well, there is a band here called the Velveteers over here that look super glam, but unfortunately I can't manage to get myself to like the way they sound!

	3:20pm Cheree July: Becky, I saw Mike & Mickey at the Greek Theatre in Fall 2021. I had no idea it would be the last time anyone saw Michael Nesmith alive, because he died shortly after that.😪 I was beyond fortunate to see that Monkees concert.

	3:22pm Becky Ebenkamp: And Mike was in top form that nite. At first it felt like he was a little feeble, confused.but 1/4 of the way in I was convinced this was all an act bc his comic timing was amazing and his voice was right on the money.

	3:41pm Kittimu: I feel like an alarmingly large percentage of junkshop glam songs have a line about either taking off or putting on your boots
	3:42pm Kittimu: You can't get that in any other genre
	3:43pm Mr Fab: My impression of Colorado music is: lots of hippie jam bands. Not totally accurate, there’s some freaky folks there. But really, are there really many glam rockers ANYwhere nowadays?
	3:43pm Kittimu: There's a lot of glam rockers in California and a lot in Tennessee.
	3:43pm Becky Ebenkamp: Cheree, I know he was very weak at the beginning of the tour, but I think he had improved a lot. He’d gained some weight and he was in much better spirits. The way I see it he was doing the Willy Wonka think where he walks out with the cane and then… somersault. Ta-da!
	3:46pm Kittimu: I don't actually know much about what local music there is here because every time I turn on the radio station that only plays local bands, I think "this isn't that good" and turn it off
	3:46pm Becky Ebenkamp: Mr. Fab: I don’t know if these guys would agree, but I find there’s been a growing interest in BG and Glam the last 5-10 years. Especially for those of us who have been collecting since the ‘80s and ‘90s, when we used to have those records to ourselves.
	3:47pm Becky Ebenkamp: No one would even admit they liked or listened to BG. Now maybe one in four people tells me they like it.

	3:49pm Debbie Davenport: Los Angeles has always had people on the cutting edge. I remember in 1985 when I would go to the fetish my friends wanted me to go to the Glam Slam too. They knew it was more my thing. I used to remove an eyebrow and draw flowers and butterflies and stuff. I was only a teen though. Couldn't get in.
	3:51pm Becky Ebenkamp: Noah’s group Teacher’s Pet was one of the first good revival groups I remember seeing.
	3:51pm Debbie Davenport: IF only I would of stayed there!
	3:52pm Mr Fab: sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!! Sheena's is finally expanding to 7 day a week with the debut of a new garage/proto-punk show by Alex (of Wassup Rockers fame) - “Shake Some Action”: wfmu.org... Dig the crazy rock action TOMORROW (and it’s NOT opposite Becky)!
	3:53pm Dolor-X: I don’t expect to see any glam rockers in my day to day doings and that’s okay with me. It could be disturbing to me out here in the Sierras.
	3:53pm Kittimu: Yeah I've heard of a lot of "glam revival" bands from the 90s and early 2000s, like, uh, plastic fantastic, and rachel stamp, but as far as I can tell glam revival didn't really start sounding good and authentic again until like the late 2000s for the most part
	3:54pm Kittimu: I like how you said you don't see glam rockers in your "day to day", as if they just walk around in stage costume. Like imagine you're at the grocery store and there's just a glam rocker there.
	3:57pm Debbie Davenport: Los angeles is like that Kittimu. or used to be. I used to do up my eye make up, put on a long black dress and just walk around melrose,. There was this amazing unusual person I would encounter there sometimes. I'm pretty sure I saw someone post about her. I guess it was rare to see her and have her talk. we stopped and held hands one time. no words, but it was fantastic. she was like super tall and would dress like marie antoinette or something.

	3:58pm Becky Ebenkamp: Yeah, I felt that those glam bands were still just metal, which attracted a different crowd. Motley Crue might have been inspired by the Dolls’ look (I don’t know) but they had little else in common. In LA, we’d pick up BAM magazine to see the “glam” bands get more clowny each week. They were anti punk mindset.
	3:59pm Kittimu: Yeah, 80s glam metal/hair metal bands are a whole different thing. I get annoyed when people don't care about the distinction.
	3:59pm Debbie Davenport: I want to do that again. I almost talked my husband into getting a second home in los angeles and my plan was to be an authentic weirdo and just wander and do stuff like I used to. I think that is a great way to be an old person.
	3:59pm Becky Ebenkamp: Debbie! My neighbor would just reminding me of the Melrose lady yesterday!
	3:59pm Debbie Davenport: I get annoyed with that too.
	3:59pm Mr Fab: Like Debbie said, don’t know if they’re glam rockers, but def some interesting-looking folks around here. Used to see a guy in Hollywood with a bird cage over his head.

	4:00pm Kittimu: Anyway that was my point, that the 90s was (to my knowledge) when bands started sometimes being classified as glam rock revival and not just glam metal, but they still didn't sound the same

	4:02pm Becky Ebenkamp: This person started following me on IG and is hinting they have a show coming soon. It sounds an awful lot like mine. I’ve had two people try to steal my concept so I’m worried it could be one of them. Only person we have in common is Matt

	4:02pm Debbie Davenport: San Fransisco used to be fun like that, but it's less affordable than LA these days I think. Mainstream rich people go for it. the marrianne williamson types

	4:03pm Debbie Davenport: It costs as much or more to live in Springfield Oregon right now than downtown los angeles. Things are changing everywhere.

	4:06pm Becky Ebenkamp: This seems to be a girl and she’s using cartoon and candy imagery (main image of girl blowing a bubble). Says she plays BG, Sunshine Pop, ye-ye, exotica, etc., etc.

	4:07pm Dolor-X: @Kuttimu, since Covid I’ve lost any semblance of a nightlife. Nightlife is coming back but I don’t even get motivated to go out and find it. I mainly relate to close friends or friends of friends, irregardless of their dress. When I was younger I never wanted to be like this, but now I am and it’s just fine. Got tired of “scenes”. I hope you do find the scene that’s right for you, you are probably a younger whipperschnapper than I.

	4:22pm Becky Ebenkamp: I interviewed someone this week who wrote and recorded his first song at age 7 and went on to work with a lot of big people, then dropped out. I was sure he would be dead or very jaded but he turned out to be quite nice and have a great sense of humor.

	4:36pm Debbie Davenport: Kittimu, like Buddy Rich? There are photos of him at 3 on the drums. "Traps the Drum Wonder". People say he can't be beat. I have a thing against people treating it like a competition. Plus feel skeptical like you guys. Drummers do drum battles, so I guess it's part of their thing.
	4:37pm Becky Ebenkamp: Dolor-x: The worst are the parents who turn a blind eye to what’s going on with their kids and adults in the industry. Either they know that they are trading fame for “services rendered” or acting like they are unaware. Meanwhile, the kid is having a breakdown.
	4:37pm Kittimu: I hate that it seems like whenever I find a musician/band I like they're like "I was born for this" and whenever I find a musician/band I really dislike they're like "I just picked it up one day". Makes me feel like I'm just screwed

	4:40pm Becky Ebenkamp: Usually the bad ones try really hard and are unaware of their lack of talent (think American Idol auditions). The guy I interviewed said he saw the Beatles on Sullivan and a boy and was so blown away he couldn’t wait for their next song to come out. So he wrote some himself.

	3:43pm Becky Ebenkamp: Cheree, I know he was very weak at the beginning of the tour, but I think he had improved a lot. He’d gained some weight and he was in much better spirits. The way I see it he was doing the Willy Wonka think where he walks out with the cane and then… somersault. Ta-da!
	3:46pm Kittimu: I don't actually know much about what local music there is here because every time I turn on the radio station that only plays local bands, I think "this isn't that good" and turn it off
	3:46pm Becky Ebenkamp: Mr. Fab: I don’t know if these guys would agree, but I find there’s been a growing interest in BG and Glam the last 5-10 years. Especially for those of us who have been collecting since the ‘80s and ‘90s, when we used to have those records to ourselves.

They knew it was more my thing. I used to remove an eyebrow and draw flowers and butterflies and stuff. I was only a teen though. Couldn't get in.

	3:53pm Kittimu: Yeah I've heard of a lot of "glam revival" bands from the 90s and early 2000s, like, uh, plastic fantastic, and rachel stamp, but as far as I can tell glam revival didn't really start sounding good and authentic again until like the late 2000s for the most part

	3:57pm Debbie Davenport: Los angeles is like that Kittimu. or used to be. I used to do up my eye make up, put on a long black dress and just walk around melrose,. There was this amazing unusual person I would encounter there sometimes. I'm pretty sure I saw someone post about her. I guess it was rare to see her and have her talk. we stopped and held hands one time. no words, but it was fantastic. she was like super tall and would dress like marie antoinette or something.

Motley Crue might have been inspired by the Dolls’ look (I don’t know) but they had little else in common. In LA, we’d pick up BAM magazine to see the “glam” bands get more clowny each week. They were anti punk mindset.

I hope you do find the scene that’s right for you, you are probably a younger whipperschnapper than I.
