	♥ 6:28am Ken in Fort Worth: It smells fine. The Metroplex (that's what they call the DFW area) isn't a nice place to live IMHO. I moved up here from San Antonio a few years ago. That was a nice city, I miss it. The best of Texas is getting out into the countryside especially waaaay out west.

I started going to SXSW in 1990, Austin was so cool back then. Now it's just a huge corporate entity. Texas is growing so fast. 	6:53am Gerry from Miami: Way back in 1969, the Army sent me to Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX( we called it El Piss-Hole). I spent almost 9 months there being trained as an interpreter/translator of Vietnamese. The area is way out in the dry, desert armpit of West Texas. Some might even say that its sister city of Ciudad Juarez, right across the border, is a better place than El Paso. A toss-up for me. Both are dreadful. I have a good friend who confirms what you tend to hear about Austin---a fun town, if your pockets are well-lined with greenbacks. Great music scene in Austin, that's for sure!

I didn’t get a chance to talk with Chris but I had a nice conversation with Tina. We talked music. She was recommending Peaches to me. She said she’s “filthy” but great. Her first record was Marvin Gaye. I told her mine was “Van Halen’s Women and Children First” and she jokingly/dismissively slapped my arm and said “you’re such a boy”, ha ha.

I just happened to be on the balcony right next to the giant speaker stack stage right. as soon as he said "I dare one of you motherfuckers to come up on stage right now!" I looked at my friend, and jumped off the balcony onto the speaker stack, and then onto the stage. and there I was. Just Iggy and I. He launched into I wanna be your dog and I put my arm around his little shirtless shoulder and sang along with him. I sang with him for a good minute before I saw security coming and had to stage dive out of there. Brings a tear to my eye.

The thing I dislike most in JC is the drinking water. It comes from Boonton reservoir . Rightnext to Rt 46. Newark has better water and restaurants, especially the ones in Ironbound!

	6:53am Gerry from Miami: Way back in 1969, the Army sent me to Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX( we called it El Piss-Hole). I spent almost 9 months there being trained as an interpreter/translator of Vietnamese. The area is way out in the dry, desert armpit of West Texas. Some might even say that its sister city of Ciudad Juarez, right across the border, is a better place than El Paso. A toss-up for me. Both are dreadful. I have a good friend who confirms what you tend to hear about Austin---a fun town, if your pockets are well-lined with greenbacks. Great music scene in Austin, that's for sure!

I just happened to be on the balcony right next to the giant speaker stack stage right. as soon as he said "I dare one of you motherfuckers to come up on stage right now!" I looked at my friend, and jumped off the balcony onto the speaker stack, and then onto the stage. and there I was. Just Iggy and I. He launched into I wanna be your dog and I put my arm around his little shirtless shoulder and sang along with him. I sang with him for a good minute before I saw security coming and had to stage dive out of there. Brings a tear to my eye.
