No mow May! When I lived in Portland, Oregon, there were some who had no or very minimal grass lawns. Instead, rock gardens, shrubbery, trees, wildflowers. Part of an anti-lawn movement, for environment, to save water, etc. Granted, most of those yards weren't large. Still, they were attractive.
