Folks! On April 26th, my friend, WFMU DJ, and all-around nice guy Bryce Kretschmann suffered an awful motorbike accident in Newark, NJ. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help him deal with the medical costs as he is a freelancer with no health insurance. Please donate here if you can: www.gofundme.com...

@clarke, what a whirlwind and killer Jazz Fest! Sorry haven't been in touch! It's been a marathon! 4 solid days and out some at night, too. Did you make it out to the fest? Gonna take off in a couple hours to head back. Will have to plan an FMU lunch on another visit when not so jam packed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm
tim from washington:

@clarke and other baseball fans. A friend of mine attended a Tigers spring training fantasy camp about 20 years. My friend got to talking to this old timer who was hanging around who was the trainer for the Tigers in the late 60s. The traine relayed this story...

Many players would show up in pretty rough shape from the night before or directly from the night before. The trainer would sit them under a hot shower while they drank a gallon jug of a concoction he made of fruit juice, vitamins and amphetamines. Then he would massage the players until the speed kicked in, then they were ready to play!

Casinos are all the same, basically. Mary Ellen is back at tournament poker for the first time since 2019. It's the Pearl River one, American Indian run, outside Philadelphia, MS, practically over to Alabama from New Orleans. I'm just doing heavy Monday online-course grading as usual on Mondays...

My truck radiator blew up on the highway at the Poplarville exit. I called my roadside assistance and they sent a tow truck from Picayune (~30 miles) to take me about 1/2 mile down the street to Culpepper's Automotive.

I spent the day there talking to a ton of people. They had a junkyard full of shiny black goats and a vitrine full of arrowheads.

They got my radiator replaced and I made it to Chattanooga just five hours late. This is my Yelp review of Culpepper's Automotive.

I like it there! I wish we had a cabin there to evacuate to.

sounds like that was a long time ago, dave, but had they built that bandstand in the center of town back then? it's pretty nice!
  2:13pm
clarke:

oh yeah, my first move will be to drive to this farm BEFORE they call evac!! then i will come back if it's all clear here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm

It wasn't that long ago, but I never saw the center of town. Culpepper's is on this long road that leads to town.
  2:14pm

right, it is pretty far from interstate to town ctr actually. good seafood place on the other side there.
