KM: I feel the same way. I did almost 100 episodes on Mixcloud before I got here. I barely heard anything from listeners, but just kept plugging away because it made me happy to do it. Here it's a whole different dynamic --- amazing feedback. Gratifying, to be sure, but it's also like "Oh my god, people are actually listening --- better make sure every show is absolutely the best it can be every single time."

F2: you're right, Don K. Reed had the Doo Wop Shop. Gus Gossert's show preceded that one on CBS-FM by a few years -- now I can't think of the name, or if it even had one. Then Gus went to PIX (I think) and eventually met an unfortunate end in the mid-70s.
