One funny story and then I got to get some work done: In 1973 Kid Congo Powers and I went to The El Monte Legion Stadium to see Ruben and the Jets - a bunch of vatos from East L.A. that Frank Zappa had produced their first album. We were sitting of the filthy floor when Sparky from the GTO's walked up. She completely ignored me, but asked Kid if he would dance with her. Brian politely demurred, which only made Sparky more determined. Likewise, Brian became totally resistant. Sparky was having a fit - boy's didn't say no to her EVER. She stomped off in a huff and I asked Brian to explain. He said he had rode his bike to see Geronimo Black and Ruben and the Jets a couple weeks back and him and Sparky had danced the night away. He had just turned fourteen. He already had it going on back then.

One funny story and then I got to get some work done: In 1973 Kid Congo Powers and I went to The El Monte Legion Stadium to see Ruben and the Jets - a bunch of vatos from East L.A. that Frank Zappa had produced their first album. We were sitting of the filthy floor when Sparky from the GTO's walked up. She completely ignored me, but asked Kid if he would dance with her. Brian politely demurred, which only made Sparky more determined. Likewise, Brian became totally resistant. Sparky was having a fit - boy's didn't say no to her EVER. She stomped off in a huff and I asked Brian to explain. He said he had rode his bike to see Geronimo Black and Ruben and the Jets a couple weeks back and him and Sparky had danced the night away. He had just turned fourteen. He already had it going on back then.
