A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

“For the Birds” unspools like a version of a soundtrack Poster might design for an Anderson film, cavorting through moods and styles at will. There are elegies and aubades, fiddle tunes and field recordings. A radiant electronic trance from Dan Deacon and a Beatles interpretation from Elvis Costello share space with a Jonathan Franzen reading; Laurie Anderson, Alice Coltrane (remixed), Yoko Ono and a reading from Wendell Pierce open separate LPs.

Four doughs. Keeps for over a week in the fridge.
Brick ovens etc etc are overkill.
Why put roadblocks in the way of perfect pizza?

We’ve been adhering pretty rigorously to all protocols. Though I usually won’t worry too much about outdoor gatherings, provided it’s not people packed in tightly upon one another.
There’s just so much for the citizenry’s to get together in person to talk about, and a philosophical event seems perfect. Between the capitalist price gouge pillaging to the vicious RW white supremacist massacre to the Ukrainemania distraction promulgated by state media propaganda to the mishandling of the pandemic - there’s just so much to in my view that could really set things off like never before. And in a time like that I think it’s most effective to gather in person (heeding pandemic guidelines) than online.
