Avatar 12:46pm Stork:

Hey Irene! The prodigal Stork, here. Been some weeks since I could listen live. The next 4 weeks are not possible, so happy to be here now!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:46pm listener james from westwood:

Oooh, this was used in Cosmos. Powers-of-ten comparison through the universe and microverse, IIRC.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:47pm David (in London):

All hail the mighty Stork!

@Stork Another round of applause for Stork & the 7 hour marathon yesterday of the sonic expressions of SUN RA (108 yrs).

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:49pm doctorjazz:

Irene, going to the Solid Sounds Festival next weekend. Many listed artists are unfamiliar to me (and they have a few stages, some conflict). Any you'd say I really should see that aren't household names? (If you get a chance...)

for those who missed it.... check the archive!! www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:51pm doctorjazz:

I'm ready to march off to war after hearing this!
Avatar 12:51pm Stork:

Thanks, alanr! So sorry for all the time shifts back and forth - had to be pretty weird going for the listeners. Thanks to Doug S for valiantly trying to get it on track, even though he was mighty busy with family stuff! But the archive is clean and perfect, so hopefully people will check it. Loving this Vangelis trib, Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Cmurtha:

The Blade Runner soundtrack is so amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Irene Trudel:

Hola doctorjazz and Stork! Yes, BIG thumbs up to you, Stork, for that massive Sun Ra special yesterday. Glad there's the archive to go back to, since I missed a good chunk and there were gremlins lurking. Not going to add to it, except for a birthday greeting to Le Sony'r Ra traveling the stars beyond Saturn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜:

oooooh Blade Runner. Loving this set so far. Back to the salt mines for me....guess I'm a mining replicant.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:57pm doctorjazz:

The Stork Sun Ra Birthday Bash was wonderful, kudos for putting it together!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Irene Trudel:

Cmurtha, agreed. Blade Runner was made even better by Vangelis' soundtrack.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:57pm David (in London):

doctorjazz in the haus. Saluatations.

Et vous, Cmurtha.

howdy to you too, David, and hello to everyone else!
Avatar 1:09pm Marshland:

Fond memories of playing along to Vangelis' Albedo 0.39 LP on my home-made synth back in the 70s
Avatar 1:11pm Marshland:

I see Cathal Coughlan has passed away too :(
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:14pm David (in London):

Oh crap, I didn't see that, Marshland. Boo.
'Thanks' for letting me know.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:15pm doctorjazz (in New Jersey):

Hi David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Threemoons 🌛🌕🌜:

Oooh, my favorite Aphrodite's Child track!!
  1:16pm Dean:

Roussos' vocals remind me of Banco del Mutuo Soccorso's Francesco Di Giacomo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Irene Trudel:

Oh, that's very sad about Cathal! I'll have to dig up a few tracks with him to play next week.
  1:22pm Dean:

This "The Lamb" is not all that removed from the later one from Genesis...?
  1:26pm wenzo toad (it/it’s):

👍
Avatar 1:34pm Stork:

Yay! Tamar!
Avatar 1:42pm Marshland:

From the Olias of Sunhillow wiki page: "After the album was finished, management of RCA Records informed Vangelis (who was signed to the label at the time), of their dissatisfaction that he had played on Olias of Sunhillow without informing them. Vangelis denied any involvement on the album despite RCA having thought the keyboards on the album were performed in his style. Vangelis said: "I myself was very surprised it had my name on the thank you-list. Maybe I have influenced Jon, I don't know."
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Brian in UK:

Hello Irene & acolytes from a soggy Shropshire.
  1:47pm wenzo toad (it/it’s):

Diggin’ the vibes, thanks Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Irene Trudel:

Marshland, I did have to look the credits up as well. Vangelis did later collaborate on a few albums with Jon.
  1:48pm Dean:

Always figured it was Moraz on Olias.

Was their first collaboration the track on Heaven & Hell?
Avatar 1:50pm Marshland:

Yes he did, it certainly does sound like a Vangelis synth section in that piece you played. I have the LP still and was quite surprised at the time to see that Jon had played everything.
Avatar 1:51pm Marshland:

Maybe I should've added the word
"ostensibly" to that last sentence...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Irene Trudel:

Dean, I think you're right, a track released before they officially put out an album. Shouting out to you, Brian and wenzo toad!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Irene Trudel:

One more weird thing about that Olias album. On the inner sleeve, there's a picture of six people who aren't named. One of them does look like Vangelis to me...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Brian in UK:

The Wondermint's track 'In and Around Greg Lake' always makes me smile.
  2:02pm Dean:

"Anderson and Vangelis’ friendship led to later speculation that he played, albeit uncredited, on Olias Of Sunhillow. Not true. 'I had been spending time with Vangelis and I’d learned a lot,' points out Anderson. 'But I wanted no one else on the album. Vangelis never heard the record until it was finished.'

"The mythical Vangelis/Olias connection came from Anderson contributing to Vangelis’ solo album, Heaven And Hell in late ’75. Anderson sang on So Long Ago, So Clear, from Heaven And Hell Part One. But its choral vocals and waterfall keyboard effects do sound like a forerunner to Olias Of Sunhillow."

also, hi Irene and everyone.
really enjoying the show, Irene. thanks tons!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hello
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Stanley:

Balls to that Chris. A friend tells me it's all a load of crap. You pay an outrageous price to see a dark miniature figure, miles away, who rarely looks up and even recognises the audience. Plus his voice has gone to shit, too.
Hello Irene and sorry, Dylan fans.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:22pm chris in the redwoods:

thanks for the confirmation, Stanley. and ahoy there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Irene Trudel:

Late greetings Whenry, chris, Jan and Stanley!
Avatar 🥁 2:25pm βrian:

Is "Whamster" an appropriate moniker?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Webhamster Henry:

@βrian I do a mean "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" onthe autoharp.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:27pm chris in the redwoods:

you gotta have faith in that moniker, βrian.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Brian in UK:

chris, rim shots not applicable!!

Brian, half a rim shot? :)
hey, Bas and David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Irene Trudel:

There are quite a few concerts I've passed on due to ridiculous ticket prices. Not to mention they all charge unexplained fees on top of it all.
Avatar 🥁 2:39pm Bas NL:

Hey, hey! Just in from the rain! It had died down a bit; we had some serious downpour and thunder earlier.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Heading out for a run, as the temps have finally dipped below the high 80's, and Sylvia, not unlike Elvis, has already left the building. Great show, as ever, Irene! We'll miss you next week! x -S&M&S
