In a few weeks I will be flying to Amsterdam for a 3 week stay. I've been listening to your archives, hoping to remember some of the bands you play. I will be vinyl shopping while there. Any recommendations to cool record stores?

fab news, Candy!

Wow this almost sounds like an old Grateful Dead recording... was not expecting that out of the outsiders
Avatar 1:34pm
worldsworstrecords:

Butcher?
Avatar 1:35pm
worldsworstrecords:

So do German ballad singers butcher Butcher songs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
Jan Turkenburg:

LOL!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
MHLee:

In German Metzger and Fleisher are butcher which seem to be unrelated words which is interesting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Slager in Dutch comes from the verb "slachten" which means butcher/slaughter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
MHLee:

maybe it's related to slaughter?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I guess so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
Jan Turkenburg:

slaghter / slaughter
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Candy-O'67:

Thanks so much, worldsworstrecords!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Candy-O'67:

Thanks, Mr. Fab! I'll be showcasing quite a few rockin' TX artists :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm
MHLee:

@Candy didn't know you were into texas rock... I dabble... well I do a bit more than that tbh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
Jan Turkenburg:

'Slager' refers to the man who has a meat shop (and to the meat shop itself) and who prepares the meat to sell. Slachter (old: slaghter) is exclusively the one who kills / slaughters the animals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm
MHLee:

Is slachter from a Dutch reform?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean with 'reform'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm
MHLee:

Spelling/language reform? I think you mentioned Dutch has changed a lot since the 50s?
  1:48pm
Beany:

I’m not drinking s’lager. It’s Höbgöblin 😂
Avatar 1:49pm
worldsworstrecords:

@1:37 well, Schalger singers certainly slaughter certain songs
Avatar 1:50pm
worldsworstrecords:

tea and chocolate here, Beany
Avatar 1:53pm
worldsworstrecords:

Is there life op Mars?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Ah, no they're two sperate words. 'Slaghter' is medieval spelling for 'slachter' = the one who slaughters, slayer. Slager is the person who sells meat, but they both come from the same root (quickly looked it up)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Exactly, Darryl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Kind of protest song: What can we find on Mars that isn't already here and why would we spent all that money to go to Mars instead of building a better world here.
Avatar 1:55pm
worldsworstrecords:

cool message
Avatar 1:55pm
worldsworstrecords:

Another super show, Jan... thanks for the choons!
Avatar 1:57pm
worldsworstrecords:

Avatar 1:58pm

Bye!
Avatar 1:59pm
Mr Fab:

thanks Jan, great stuff today!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Candy-O'67:

Thx so much, Jan! Enjoyed it!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
Candy-O'67:

MHLee, you'll see. It's not singer songwriter or anything like that. It's more '60's garage and psyche, and hard rockin', a little more modern bands😁
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
Candy-O'67:

Also gonna be some southern fried '60's soul!
