Evening Therese
  9:02pm Eugene R.:

Once more, our Therese d'Etre!
  9:03pm Robm:

Great song by leonard cohen
Avatar 9:03pm Destroit:

Hi Therese, hi everyone. Happy to be here.
Avatar 9:04pm laurapanic:

hey team lets go
  9:04pm Robm:

Love anything by Leonard
  9:06pm Rick A:

Good Evening Therese and All, I'm settling into another Wednesday of trying to balance work without being too distracted by this great show. Cohen's back up singers Perla Batalla and Julie Christensen perform an incredibly beautiful version of this song in the film "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man".
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:07pm Handy Haversack:

Hell of an opener, Therese.

Hello to you and to all TheRest.
  9:08pm Harry Corvair:

Oh, Therese. Yes.

This show is taking my mind off all the murder and mayhem that’s going on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm DanFA:

@Handy, you better trademark that - TheRest.
  9:10pm Robm:

@Therese as long as i am not in Texas i will be safe

Requesting Dear God by XTC tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Whosondephone:

Leonard Cohen is one of the strangest artists. Sometimes have a hard time taking him seriously. Sounds like he's singing badly technically. But he is really is great.
  9:14pm Rick A:

The Leonard Cohen exhibit at The Jewish Museum in 2019 was really great, very creative rendering of his work combined with vivid montages of his performances.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hello, Therese! Once again to pick up the pieces. Bless you!

Sinead, yes.

@robm: if only it were that localized...

speaking from dallas, where today a high school student was spotted walking toward school carrying what appeared to be a rifle. student was found in the school, without weapons, but weapons were found in his car. one was identified as a paintball gun and the other not clearly identified. he was arrested. this is the high school by my house, where both of my kids graduated. the kids around here have been "playing" a tictok challenge where they chase and shoot each other with soft pellets from devices that look authentically like real guns. i nearly ran over a couple in a parking lot a few weeks ago, and then a car full of kids shot at the kids I nearly hit, spraying my van with pellets. happened again in a fast food drive thru the other night. someone's gonna call the cops on the teens and they're gonna get shot for real. so stupid. so sad. no idea if the kid today was "playing" or planned something much much worse. either way, stupid stupid stupid...

but yeah, this can, and is, happening everywhere. we just are far less inclined to do anything about here in texas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm prof.fuzz:

soulful set, therese
  9:32pm Robm:

@PF yeah the tic tok challenges are getting stupid

  9:36pm karlo:

Love this helium jicks vibe
9:37pm Bob in DC and/or Virginia:

Mary Timony is recording a new solo record -- so that's at least something to look forward to in the Twenties.
  9:37pm Rick A:

I remember buying this CD and sticking it in the car stereo to drive around a largely empty Los Angeles on a week night in December 2004. I just kept driving and listening to the record. It all seemed appropriate. I will never forget that solitary evening od driving and music. Since then, I've seen Mary Timony a few times; she is an incredible guitarist.
  9:37pm karlo:

Oops
  9:38pm Rick A:

Wow, Mary Timony and MBV! Go Therese!
Avatar 9:43pm Destroit:

I struggle to find a song i like better than Life on Mars

Avatar 10:18pm Destroit:

Even as i sift thru my thoughts of Morrissey’s incessant latter life dipshittery, the Smiths were so so great. I suck at remembering lyrics, and i know all Smiths lyrics
  10:19pm Rick A:

The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian is a logical transition. I saw Belle and Sebastian for the first time on this tour at Radio City Music Hall. They performed a lot of older songs which was great.
  10:20pm Harry Corvair:

Stern but never daunting
Avatar 10:21pm Destroit:

I was pretty blown away by the Boy with the Arab Strap era of B&S
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Stevel:

Just did it again! (And what a next segue coming up! Perfect!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm PigeonsAndRust:

Yep! Cracklin' Rosie is the only girl who will go with me. Cheers!
  10:24pm Rick A:

I just lost some work I wrote because of a buggy program. I wrote a lot too. This music is making me not so angry about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm PigeonsAndRust:

Sorry @ Rick. The only thing as bad as loneliness is having to do the same work twice
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey, this should come pre-clicky starred.
  10:30pm Rick A:

Thank you to take the time for the sympathy Pigeons. This is the life we live in working on technological platforms. This great set of music is making the experience easier though I would be enjoying it more had I not lost that work.

Avatar 🎸 11:19pm Bob in DC and/or Virginia:

Wait, there's a song called "Sophisticated Boom Boom"? Was it named after the 'FMU show or vice versa?
  11:20pm Rick A:

Joe McGasko played the Sophisticated Boom Boom track as well. The influence on Sheila is clear.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Fishtown Mike:

Hey Therese! Great show! Been bustling about. Making dinner & such, interspersed with occasional incoherent screaming at the TV. Not much time for the boards, etc. But permit me to jump in to defend Pittsburgh. Grew up there, still have a house & in-laws/relatives there. I left in the 80's it was bleak. (Thanks, Reagan.) Now it's much different. Great music scene, arts, the Warhol museum, etc. And without Pittsburgh & Philadelphia, the entire state & it's electoral votes would be f*cking Kansas. Just sayin'. Plus inclines.
  11:28pm Rick A:

I've been to Pittsburgh a couple of times. I spent the beginning of spring break there in 2006. Of course, Pittsburgh screams spring break. We spent the next few days of spring break in Detroit. I enjoyed my time in Pittsburgh and would be happy to return and spend more time there. It's a city that seems a little too sports focused though there are other attractions as others have pointed out.
  11:32pm ryansterlingvirtue:

This is a cute track. Sounds a little like gwen stefani escort it doesn’t suck lol

  11:43pm Rick A:

Richard Marks is a constant and welcomed presence on WFMU. I would have never known about him if I didn't listen to 'FMU. It's becoming too late for me, so I bid everyone good night, thank you for another fantastic show, Therese.
