China has been working on this other 'pole'/bloc for 25 years. The US rejected Russia as a Euro/NATO ally, despite repeated Russian requests, several times from the late 90s on, and now Russia is going to throw in with China, which will have the largest economy in the world in a few more decades. The US bloc is basically English-speaking countries plus western and central Europe, plus Japan and Korea. We'll see who lines with which bloc.

I'm not taking sides about any of this; just talking about how it looks to be, and how things look to be maybe shaping up going forward.
  2:42am $mall ¢hange:

'The US bloc is basically English-speaking WHITE countries'

probably Russia's low point to join NATO. after the US destroyed them financially.

I def take sides and I am not on the US side. the US is the worst. the US/West are pirates.

as Pepe said the train has left. the world is splitting financially and that's a good thing bc the US hopefully cannot bully the world with sanctions so much, if they don't control the whole system. which they do now
  2:48am egould:

I agree that it’s a good thing if the US cannot bully the world with sanctions so much, if they don't control the whole system.

My concern is that the power void would allow China to exert more power, and start sanctions, wars, etc.

Interesting stuff, though. Thanks for airing it $¢.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49am G:

If demography is destiny, as is sometimes said with some validity, seems like China and India are back to being the top areas of the world in size and influence (as they were for several millennia, till the early-modern era), given how they are rapidly developing further these days in various regards. China and India are 1.4 billion people each right now, the US a third of a billion. Russia, despite its momentary prominence in mainstream news, is really a second-tier entity, barely over 150M.

I've been designing an online world cultures course series for my employer for a couple months now, and am just getting done with Asia weeks, so I have all this stuff on my mind recently.

Interesting interview, tx.
  2:51am $mall ¢hange:

cheers. yeah you might want to check Michael Hudson, dope economist with anti-imperialist views. I played an excerpt from one of his interviews few weeks back. he's been talking about this financial split a lot too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51am G:

TX, again :-)
  2:54am Eric the Hat:

Just quickly. Isn’t nationalism as awhile kinda just a tool of division maintained by the “masters of the universe”? Is the west really any more to blame than the trash from the other three corners of the human hellscape? It’s always going to end up with the lowest tiers paying the highest price. The actual hands that make all the machines function… just a thought. Don’t make fun of me!!!! Lol
  2:55am $mall ¢hange:

'My concern is that the power void would allow China to exert more power, and start sanctions, wars, etc.'

I think ppl in the west should realize that the US is the empire. not Russia, not China. the US with the military budget bigger than the next 9 countries combined, the country w 800 bases, the country that starves children with Sanctions, that even is in a position to sanction countries really. I think ppl in the West/US really need perspective on what the US is. an empire
  2:55am Eric the Hat:

A whole*
  2:56am $mall ¢hange:

anyways party ppls thx!
  2:57am Eric the Hat:

  2:58am $mall ¢hange:
