Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Taylor!
Avatar 1:01pm ironybread:

Hi Hy! Hi Jan!
Avatar 1:06pm HyperDose:

Music like this makes me want to plan a heist
Avatar 1:09pm ironybread:

Indeed, Hyper, the music of David Holmes has pretty much the same effect
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:12pm spodiodi:

good morning, Ironybread!
gm , Hyper, Jan!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:13pm chresti:

Hi ironybread and puzzlers!

Howdy, ironybread!

Listening on the spotty data beam, so far so good
Avatar 1:17pm HyperDose:

Hey spodi, Jan, chresti, Wichy Wich!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:22pm spodiodi:

hi, Wich! smells good
Avatar 🎸 1:24pm Sem:

Hello, iBread. Along to hear Charlie Brown get his comeuppance.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Wich in Rashington:

well, I'll be! There it IS!
Avatar 1:27pm ironybread:

Hi Sem!
Avatar 1:32pm ironybread:

I think Rich just found what he's been looking for!!!
Avatar 1:37pm HyperDose:

WFMU has been pretty Björk heavy lately. Not complaining. Just wish Enya would get her due, y'know
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Wich in Rashington:

Oh wow! I NEVER thought anyone would sample this!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Wich in Rashington:

sorry. that read a bit click baity.
I am pretty sure this song samples Arthur Brown's Animal People (among other things).
Avatar 1:43pm ironybread:

Oddly enough Hyper a few weeks ago I went back to two people I hadn't listened to since college, Enya and Enigma. Enya's first two albums are great downers, absolutely the best albums for sitting very beautifully and crying. And I mean that in a good way
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Which Rich in Washington:

Someone turned me onto Enya during a period of grief and healing and I found her music really beautiful. I should revisit her catalogue.
Avatar 1:46pm ironybread:

And the first Enigma album is really quite good, no surprise since Michael Cretu had already been making the Euro-dance pop for ten years at that point. Too bad "MCMXC A.D." is very solidly stuck in that period in dance-pop history when there was only one shakuhachi sample available in the entire recording industry
Avatar 1:47pm ironybread:

Just noting that this Steely Dan song is not appropriate for grief and healing except in very special cases.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Rich in Washington:

shakuhachi is cancelled
Avatar 1:49pm ironybread:

HA
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Rich in Washington:

I remember buying this record new as a youngster and thinking 'that's it! I'm a new waver now!', thinking it was a really bold mood for someone living in a relatively hillbilly town like mine at the time.
Avatar 1:55pm ironybread:

Tim Cook handed me this Weird Paul CD one day at KUOI and said "You'll like this guy, he's goofy"
Avatar 1:56pm ironybread:

Rich, my first XTC was "Go 2" and was indeed completely suckered by the Hipgnosis cover design
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Rich in Washington:

I could never find Go 2 or Drums and Wires until many years later. I literally found a nearly complete early XTC discography on vinly at a Value Village (RIP) once and it completed my early collection.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Rich in Washington:

vinly. lol.
Avatar 2:00pm ironybread:

My Cousin Vinly
Avatar 2:00pm ironybread:

Vinly is back!
Avatar 2:01pm HyperDose:

@Wich Enya does have that cathartic effect. Her music also makes wildly mediocre movies seem tolerable. That woman truly has a gift.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Rich in Washington:

good god. This production gives Jack Dangers a run for his money.
Avatar 2:06pm ironybread:

@Hyper Enya absolutely gives the kiss of "I no longer hate this movie" to movies that are deeply deeply meh
Avatar 2:07pm ironybread:

here's the requisite link to an article about the face mapped onto the waveform of this song: www.wired.com...
Avatar 2:08pm HyperDose:

She also had the best life insurance policy. "I'm gonna get hella rich, then drop off the face of the Earth and live in a castle full of cats". Her feline-centric hustle is both inspiring and respected.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Mr Fab:

Hey puzzlers and boxers!
“Melt the Guns” is the XTC song that’s been on my mind lately, for some reason…
Avatar 2:16pm ironybread:

Hiya Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Mr Fab:

Cheap Trick were momentarily a biker metal band?!?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Rich in Washington:

I need to watch this again.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Rich in Washington:

Love this track.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Rich in Washington:

I can totally hear this song being some obscure 70s Uptown New York band.
Avatar 2:29pm ironybread:

Where, I cry out, WHERE is the Lou Reed single for Record Store Day, "My Name Is Mok" b/w "Triumph"
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Rich in Washington:

the Hot Dogs & Sushi one, I mean.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Rich in Washington:

Totally!
Avatar 2:31pm ironybread:

I had a brief email correspondence with director Clive Smith years ago, and Melleny Brown is his ex-wife...I told him if he could convince Melleny to do a proper issue of "Hot Dogs and Sushi" I'd erect bronze statues in both their honor, or words to that effect
Avatar 2:35pm ironybread:

Iggy clearly took on this soundtrack assignment with pure glee
Avatar 2:41pm ironybread:

Mylar by himself after the hellbeast from Dimension X almost kills the entire audience at the power plant show: "Well. Helluva gig...now how to we tour it"
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Rich in Washington:

that car crash!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. I forgot about this group! Remember seeing them on the Seeland roster but never heard them.
Avatar 2:52pm ironybread:

Oh this whole CD slams, Rich!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Rich in Washington:

I'm looking at non-Negativland Seeland releases on Discogs right now.
Avatar 2:58pm ironybread:

Head & Leg "In Your Dreams" = another must-have
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:58pm chresti:

Thanks ironybread’
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:58pm spodiodi:

dug the show. thanks, Taylor!
(thanks for that Aphex Twin link. cool cool)
Avatar 2:58pm HyperDose:

Super cool show, Taylor!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks Taylor!
Avatar 2:59pm ironybread:

Thanks for listening you maniacs! Hoping everyone does the right thing and listens to Barno and DJ Kreightoven's new show about to debut on Sheena's. They'll be cheeking in tongues on Monday night: www.instagram.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Mr Fab:

Can’t get enough of this show, thx, sir!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Rich in Washington:

Don Joyce sent me a big box of Seeland releases once, in gratitude for me sending him random bulk audio over the years.
