	👻 6:34pm Austin Rich: Not the worst sound this week on Voyage of The Scarlet Queen, but I did do a little EQ, to make it a little more crisp. I think the source recording is a little "slower" than the was it might have been broadcast originally, but it's hard to gauge stuff like that, so I didn't fiddle with the speed at all.
	👻 6:35pm Austin Rich: This is the episode that the last 18 have sort of been building up to. We're in the final act of the "Kang" storyline.
	👻 6:38pm Austin Rich: Both Red Gallagher and Phil Carney served in WWII, and in 2022, would most likely have passed away. So they, too, are people we would celebrate on Memorial Day.

	👻 6:42pm Austin Rich: But really, EVERYONE who was able, went. And they we drafted some people on top of that. To compare: we've had such ample volunteers in the US, Vietnam was the last time we ever had to draft anyone for military service. Now, we have TOO MANY kids rushing to sign up, every year.

	👻 7:33pm Austin Rich: This episode has a script by Ernest Kinoy, based on a idea he and George Lefferts had. They were the two writers who adapted all the Dimension X stories for radio scripts.

	👻 7:35pm Austin Rich: Yeah. As I understand it, a "prime time" or later show. (8 PM or later.)

	👻 7:41pm Austin Rich: While the story does seem a little heavy handed with some fairly obvious imagery, I still appreciate this story. Good Hello, Otis!
	👻 7:43pm Austin Rich: Depending on the era, there weren't always 24 hour broadcast days. In the 30s, there were often gaps between Midnight and Six AM. Other stations had shorter or longer broadcast days, and other would come on in the morning, and then again in the evening, to cover the most listened periods. But by the late 50s, most stations were airing overnight content, mostly music. (Since you could hire a DJ to spin records during the "off" hours.)
	7:44pm Charles: DJs spinning records for the radio in the dead of the night? Madness!
	👻 7:45pm Austin Rich: By the late 50's you had a few cultural revolutions, that led to be people actually leading nocturnal lifestyles, periodically! But really, the influx of Teenagers after WWII led to people looking for something to listen to during the off-hours, and often, a radio was cheaper than a record player and a stack of new singles.
	👻 7:47pm Austin Rich: You can hear some samples of the kind of "music" DJing that was heard in the late 1930's on a recording called, "The Complete Broadcast Day." archive.org...
	👻 7:47pm Austin Rich: I think at least the first hour is just music DJing. September 21st, 1939.
	👻 7:49pm Austin Rich: Looks like the first two hours are music, actually.
	👻 7:49pm Austin Rich: And again, this station in this recordings for the complete broadcast day was only on air for 19 hours a day.
