Is this the same Henry Flynt that Fabio played yesterday. I am assuming so because strings. Dang, that's some range! I need to delve!

Hey, TomDash, I think we might bring Bagpipe to Mama Tried for the NateK/Spoony sets on Sunday -- in case you and Nico were thinking of being there.

Hey Handy...I assume it is the same Henry Flynt indeed! Didn't realize Fabio spun him - fuses minimalism with fiddle/country/bluegrass...quite a varied discography...

Liking this version of Up on the Sun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am
Alvy Singer:

The first album was, “Let’s do it all on acid.” We thought that our heroes did. And I always thought, “Wow, the Grateful Dead and Jimi were trippin’,” and so we did it in the studio, Meat Puppets I sounds like that because we really are on drugs. Meat Puppets II we had MDA: lots of it. Really good MDA. We just had a ball with the stuff for about four or five days and recorded the record, but nobody is going to do that again after that. It’s like, “This record depends on this.” Well, it kind of does. Up on the Sun is just a big pot and beer album. “Now this one we’re going to go smoke pot and drink beer.” Then we go do Mirage and Huevos and snort cocaine.

I've told this story here before, but years ago I attended a "surrealist games night" at a local Boston arts space hosted by Roger Miller. My assumption going in was that he was just a celebrity host the space brought in, but it quickly became apparent that he honestly just loved these games, and mostly just walked from table to table to see how everyone was doing. It was really charming.

Thanks, pals.

I see, too, that Country Westerns and the Piggies are playing Union Pool 7/7! Figure we need to do that. Though I'll have to come straight from softball ...

Reminded again of the Ginger Baker Trio with Ginger, Bill Frisell & Charlie Haden. I thot that was the stuff.

It was a great show, DjLorraine. Three WFMU-listener bands! Psych-O-Positive featured listener full metal monkey on guitar. Lots of WFMU love in the place -- and cool T-shirts, of course!

The prof.fuzz 63 put on an excellent show. Our prof. has fantastic stage presence.

It keeps trying, but not getting above 10% since Left Hand Right Hand...

It just got up to 90% percent and failed again...I think I'll pack it in...

Great set to ride to, thanks Tom!
Just took the Kosciusko Br over from Sunnyside and down into Bushwick. Making my first visit (upon recommendation of a listener on the chat board of Mark Hurst’s show Monday night) to Molasses bookstore on Hart St, a charming, gritty little place that feels like what Montmartre must be like.
If anyone is wondering where the East Village went I think it’s settled here.

Thanks Tom. Friday mornings will be a little weird without you. Of course, they were a little weird *with* you. Catch you later on the WFMU app, wherever your show lands.

I for one eagerly await your return to the night shift Tom! One of the best shows on FMU but I genuinely feel it’s better in the evening after a couple cold ones and a puff or two and ETC…! 😇😀🔥
