Embarrassed to admit but I use a “smart” speaker to listen to radio. Most of the time I can say, “Hey *asterisk* play WFMU”. Easy peasy, there’s my favorite station. Does the station have key commands for the other streams yet? I’ve asked *asterisk* to play Rock N Soul or Give The Drummer but it never works. Just curious!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Mark @Ira: Todd-o-phonic Todd himself once played "Southbound Jericho Parkway" for me, and he described the experience of hearing it for the first time as when you're driving through the Lincoln Tunnel at a crawl and it's been what seems like 10 minutes, and then you finally spot the New York/New Jersey borderline ahead that's halfway through the tunnel.

He may have meant that as a compliment.
  4:04pm
noisejerk:

Lenny the C was definitely an elliptical thinker and speaker (convenient call back!). There's a certain strain of drummers... (not Georgia...), who have a certain way with conversation... and dedication to music idears and fandoms. He turned me on to Toad Liquor, a since defunct Southern Lord band. Lenny wasn't too connected the Fleshtones trip (I think they were HS classmates??). Me? I love me some tones and toads.

That DLR track is great, didn't even realize it was him (from the same EP his cover hits of the Beach Boys & Louis Prima came from). He really could've switch directions and made an interesting album of covers, acoustic stuff, etc. but he seemed happy w/doing the same over-the-top shtick all the time.
