WildNeil - I think being G.I.s in Germany during Nam was a lot of that ...to this day, people get mileage out of being AntiBeatles - tho I'm not sure the Monks ever leaned on that pedal that hard @ the time ?? Germany was a real crucible for TheBeatles matter of fact - YaYaYa ?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:13pm

Monks were a German concept with an American cast. Everything about them was contrary, and it still totally works. The same can't be said for a lot of other bands, conceptualized or not.

@WildNeil - Beatles went to Hamburg (described as the LasVegas of Europe) because it was steady abundant work for a novice act. The Liverpudlians needed that - & the Germans needed bands. ...the particular circumstances of how TheBeatles first got booked to go to Hamburg are one of those remarkable coincidences that seem quite fated in their case ! Promotor Alan Williams had gone to Hamburg with a tape to play club owners - but it malfunctioned ! A botched attempt he reckoned... Later he goes down to London just to see what he could do there maybe - & it *just happens* the club owner from Germany was there *@ the same time* remembering that & looking for them in London (he knew not Liverpool) - & they made the deal !...

I saw Ministry in Manhattan back in 89 or 90....some 6'-8" dude with an SS shirt picked me up by my beltloops and THREW me accross the floor. At that point, I gave up on the mosh pit and went upstairs and watched on the close circuit TV.

I think this is the only Tripod Jimmie song I've ever heard, and now I want to start a Tripod Jimmie cover band.

Oh, I love this Cul de Sac record, and I don't think I've listened to it since the Clinton administration.

I obviously don't need to buy anymore records, because I have so many excellent ones I never listen to.

This week's playlist has covered a wide swath of musical genres. A mighty impressive feat, i must say, even though that's pretty much par for the course for a typical SW program.
Thanks, Scott!
