I’m finally coming around on the old Rod Stewart stuff - I think his mainstream popular era, when I first came to know him, made me think he sucked. He did not always suck.

Rod is getting ready for a Vegas residency, and the stage show/wardrobe changes reflected that.

Ooh. I do want to hear the Myriam Gendron program.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:32pm
chris in the redwoods:

Myriam Gendron on Scott's show is what is known as a "zero productivity event" here on the left coast. so cool guests are beginning to return to FMU HQ.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:34pm
Handy Haversack:

AND she's playing in Brooklyn -- but on the same day as the Spiritualized show in Jersey City! Oh, life.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm

@Handy I'm not aware of that show. When and where?

Oh, Scott just answered it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm

I have entered it on my calendar. The Calendar controls my actions.

Ack. I've volunteered to be a chaperone for my daughter's high school marching band, and that's an away-game night. Bummer.

And she is playing the Woodist Festival, in Accord NY, on Sept 24. Alson the bill: GBV, The Feelies and Bill Callahan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm
McGroovey:

That 7-day gap suggests she may be playing other places in between the 23rd and the 30th.

Her posted calendar looks incomplete:

@Scott: Thank you! I have a soft spot for old-people-singing recordings and I think this one may have tricked me! but it is wonderful nonetheless for capturing that feeling plus added weird sounds. Will listen more. TY

M"kay. Pretty Things & early~mid 1960s is only comparison to Stones. I'd say Pretties somewhere twixt Stones & Who - & the most prominent UK comparison to USA GarageRawk. Faces compare to later 60s / early 70s Stones... Pretties were scruffier & more raw & enuff of a threat to the Stones measures were taken against them in the biz...
