Lynch had asked Neff to obtain a field recording of crickets chirping at night for inclusion in his film "Mulholland Drive." When Neff played him the tape, the director immediately recognized the sound that the insects make when it is light, which is different to their nocturnal chirp. “No! No! No! These are day crickets, John! I want my night crickets!” Victor, Darwin, & David instantly agreed that the project now had a name.  *   2:42:19 (Pop-up)

@Heidee: My fave grading story was going to a professor's office hours to beg for an extension when I noticed my group was listed with a B+ grade even though we hadn't submitted anything. Looks like after 2 1/2 years of homeschooling (due to health issues, low immune system) I'm sent back into germ factory: School premises for in-person teaching from Sept onwards. Not quite sure how to handle that - literally "handling" surfaces etc. is giving me the chills. I have been living in this "clean" bubble for so long (I know, this practically doesn't exist) and too comfortably. Been a good digital teacher as well, students and colleagues have been very cooperative. Distant teaching is taking its toll though. Some advice from you guys for my healthy mindset on this?
  7:41am
Robm:

@Heidee try and keep a positive attitude
Avatar 🌜 7:42am
YETI BOB:

Ugh, Heidee, that's unpleasant. Maybe you can take some small comfort in the fact that the virus is not really spread by "fomites" (particles clinging to surfaces), most transmission is airborne, which is why people stopped wiping everything off so religiously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43am
fred:

@Heidee: Don't worry about surfaces, keep windows open if possible (doors at least), and listen to WFMU
Avatar 🌜 7:44am
YETI BOB:

@fred - I do the opposite thing of course, if a VI window pops up (git commit, etc) I fill up the window with ctrl-A, ctrl-K, etc, ctrl-X, etc. On my personal machine, I just remove /usr/bin/vi[m] and the problem never happens :-)
