morning. when i had a garden i used to put out a saucer with beer in it to kill the snails. i guess if you have to go it's not a bad way.

There is a large snail population in my neighborhood, and in the springtime you can see a lot of tiny baby snails.

It also makes walking really slow when you have to be constantly scanning for snails to a) not step on, and b) move off the sidewalk to a snail-safel spot

It is indeed an experience both charming and nerve-wracking. You feel like a hero when you've saved a half dozen little friends just walking down the block.

And then if they don't get crushed by any errant feet, after they've gone on to Snailhalla, you can sometimes find their empty shells around

dale@5:56 - I've always heard of that method of dealing with snail's in the garden, but never knew anyone whom did it. The way i remember how it works is that the snail drinks the beer gets drunk and drowns in it. Is that correct

My friend CJ (we called her 'Bird Girl') is an animator now but for many years was a falconer by trade, working on seagull abatement at an airport in New Jersey and a landfill in Rochester. Hot tip: this informed some of the animal content in her songs and artwork.
