Oh, yeah. I forgot. You are the one who speaks Danish!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
Jan Turkenburg:

LOL
Avatar 4:22pm
Mike Rogers:

Wait! Is it Danish?
Avatar 4:22pm

Or is that Denmark? Sorry to be so dumb

No it's more like Klingon.

Jan Turkenburg:

btw seriously, it's really confusing: my country is The Netherlands, often refeered ot as Holland, which is technically only the part of the country at the coast. The english name for our language is 'Dutch'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
Jan Turkenburg:

While our German neighbours call their country Deutschland and their language Deutsch.
Avatar 4:31pm
Mike Rogers:

Ok. That's what I figured. I was good at school (and I collected postage stamps - it's a good way to lear about the world!)
Avatar 4:32pm
Mike Rogers:

Isn't "Holland" just what Americans say? I don't want to say Americans can be dumb, but they can be dumb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm
Jan Turkenburg:

No, Holland is quite common around the world. The French speak of La Hollande, but officially it's Les Pays Bas.
Avatar 4:33pm
Mike Rogers:

One time I was on JAL liner from LAX to Tokyo. And the lady said to me, "Where are you from?"
"Tokyo" I replied.
She said, "Isn't that in China?"
I though, "Lady, you are on a plane to Japan and you don't even know where you are going?"
I just said, "Yeah!"
Avatar 4:34pm
Mike Rogers:

Ok. I got it. The food is great there, isn't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
Jan Turkenburg:

In France, yes! ;-)
Avatar 4:35pm
Mike Rogers:

Ah? I have never had authetic Fench food. French toast, yes. But not real French food.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
Jan Turkenburg:

We used to have a TV show here, where the hoast would travel to popular places for Dutch tourists. And the hilarious bit of the program was where he asked them to point at the map where they where at the moment.
Avatar 4:38pm
Mike Rogers:

Oh, god!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm
Jan Turkenburg:

hoast... sorry, that was because of your Fremch toast. It's not my spell check. I'm just a sloppy typer...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm
Jan Turkenburg:

what would be a typical Japanese breakfast?
Avatar 4:52pm
Mike Rogers:

Thank you Bamboo Boy! But Sunday is a lonely time for Sheena's jungle room... In the good news we have the whole club to ourselves!
Avatar 4:53pm
Mike Rogers:

Can you answer that, Bamboo By? I only drink smoothies for breakfast, so I can't really say.
Avatar 4:54pm
Mike Rogers:

I think it is a small bowl f rice, Miso soup, and a small baked fish, and some pickled veggies.
Avatar 4:55pm
Mike Rogers:

Maybe for the modern, on the go, Japanese, it is an Egg McMuffin!
Avatar 4:57pm
Mike Rogers:

This music gives me the willies.
Avatar 4:58pm
Bamboo Boy:

Jan, if you're an old school like me, rice, miso soup, grilled fish, tofu, natto, and sea weed. That's our typical breakfast.
Avatar 4:59pm
Mike Rogers:

Hey! That's why you look so young, Bamboo Boy! Eating healthy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm

Mr Fab:

Hi Mike san! Was listening earlier whilst driving around. COuldn't believe you played that Mike Simpson - one of the best exotica albums, but not very well-known. Sampled sound fx, in the '60s? Pioneering.
Avatar 5:14pm
Mike Rogers:

Hi. Mr Fab. From my hard core exotica days. I bought a ton of CDs like that. Have never played them on the radio before. My wife used to say, "Why do you buy these things?"
Avatar 5:18pm
Mr Fab:

Ah, one of my fave JJ Perrey songs. Written by future David Lunch composer Angelo Badalamente!
Avatar 5:19pm
Mike Rogers:

Wow! You should make your own encyclopedia, "Mr. Fab Ecyclopedia Brittanica"
Avatar 5:19pm
Mr Fab:

I'm surporised that your wife would say that, as the Japanese were into exotica pretty early on. But I guess not ALL of them, heh heh.

Avatar 5:33pm
Mike Rogers:

Avatar 5:34pm
Mr Fab:

i don't know if you can get too weird for WFMU.
Avatar 5:35pm
Mike Rogers:

Ode to Otis Fodder, who without him, I would have probably never gotten into this kind of music.
Avatar 5:35pm
elmoweber:

This is incredible, where's Otis?
Avatar 5:36pm
Mike Rogers:

He is taking a short vacation, I think.
Avatar 5:37pm
Mike Rogers:

Do you know what's up with Otis, Mr. Fab?
Avatar 5:37pm
Mr Fab:

Calling Otis!
He's taking a break.
how did you discover the Bran Flakes, Mike?
I did via a show Otis did for the first internet station I ever heard: AIR (Antenna Internet Radio.)
Avatar 5:37pm
Mr Fab:

circa 1998.
Avatar 5:39pm
Mike Rogers:

Gee, I used to be very rich. So, I'd just go to the weird record stors and polp down $3000 on shit I had never hear of but liked the jacket. I was blown away when I heard Bran Flaks the first time.
Otis told me even he didn't have one of the CDs I have.
Avatar 5:41pm
Mike Rogers:

Wow! Mr. Fab, I have never heard of that!
  5:41pm
mochy:

So am I. My hobby of music is completely different.

I used to go to karaoke when we were dating.
Avatar 5:44pm
Mr Fab:

I saw JJ Perrey live, and Otis was the opening act! DJing the Space Age vinyl.
Avatar 5:45pm
Mike Rogers:

I deny that completely! I am a happily married man, Mochy san!
Avatar 5:45pm
Mike Rogers:

I was living in Japan in those days, the only way I could know about this sort of stuff was vicariously on the internets.
Avatar 5:46pm

So Dana Countryman is everyone's friend too?

My children are always helping me these days.
