Hey gang, Spacebrother Greg was called away just recently without a chance to find a fill-in. So we'll hear what Sheena herself has in store for us today...

I was wondering what happened. I only just got situated myself, otherwise I could have streamed it.

(Speaking of, Mr. Fab: I'm messaging you regarding a change to my Monday show. I just need to move it a little later, is all.)

Ah, shucks, was going to whine to Greg about this Silent Noise we are hearing. Since it is the stream, Mr. Fab, you're on the hook for the choices. LOL,

Good Hello, Krys O.

Are the Tommyknockers supposed to be comprised of anyone we know? The inter-web-a-tron is not so helpful on this front.

Mr Fab:

not familiar with 'em. Got that off a comp, i believe.

Yeah. I think they just seem to like the Ramones a lot. (I was wondering if it was a Tommy Ramone side project... or something clever like that.)

45 Grave on now, feat. our own KItten "Don Bolles" Sparkles.

Don't blame me WR, Sheena's in charge now! Do not displease her, she might cast a curse on you!

One of my earliest contributions to the internet was a Germs "fan" page, in the early / mid-90's, when I was using dial-up and not really uploading anything more than text. I'm sitting on an interview I did with Don a few years ago, before I knew he was connected to Sheena. (Maybe before Sheena, even?)
Avatar 📖 5:31pm
Mr Fab:

Wow, wonder if that fan page still exists somewhere..?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm
Austin Rich:

I found some records of it on archive.org.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm
Austin Rich:

And some younger fan clearly used sections of it on their page, when I did some searching way back when.

I used to correspond with Nicole Panter, back when she was lurking online and people didn't really know who she was. I should write her back and see if she remembers the nerdy guy asking all the dumb questions about the germs in the 90's.

ha, yeah! I never did read Bolles's book about Darby n the Germs. I imagine she's in there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm
Austin Rich:

I suspect. I've been meaning to read that, too. After I read the 500 other rock biographies / music scene books / 'zines I'm sitting on.

"early / mid-90's" Damn, I didn't even own a computer til like '99. Wasn't interested, buying one was my wife's idea. Were there many people on the 'net in those days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm
Austin Rich:

Not really. I got online because a roommate was really into it, and I had a computer that my mom bought me as a graduation present from High School. So this roommate showed me how to get online, and I've been puttering around ever since. But I also didn't approach it as "dedicated" as my roommate, who was online all the time. I would get on, do this, update my page, return my e-mail, and log off for a month. There just wasn't the same traffic, and I was still sending a lot of letters and packages and cassettes.

Austin Rich:

I would say it wasn't until I started college in 2004 when I realized that I was missing something by not really being online like most other folks were, which was conveniently when I went to college. So I had the Freshmen to help keep me up to speed, as a "returning" student.

Ronald & Donald - "Kwek Kwek". Probably learned of this from "World's Worst Records."

Gotta love that Raymond Scott stuff. And I love The Fall, too. Sheena's delivering today!

My Hotmail address is 25 years old. I use it very rarely. My brother took computer science classes in high school in the early 70s and he went to Northeastern for engineering. He taught me a lot about computers and he even built my first PC in 1999. My ex and I did have WebTV before in 1995 or so.

Krys O:

I’ve worked with computers since the 80s on DOS systems, Mac in the early 90s and so on….
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
Austin Rich:

That's very cool, Krys! I love OG computer stuff.

When I was a kid, my dad worked for the railroad, but got injured, and they paid for his school. He went to a technical college, and got a job maintaining phone networks for businesses in the 80's He would come home and tell me about how computers would be networked soon, and it would change everything. I used to laugh and think he was just high.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm
Austin Rich:

Oh, who's laughing now?
  5:55pm
Krys O:

That’s excellent, Austin. My bro would get “online” with the SUNY system and bring home printouts of code. He graduated high school in ‘74.

This kooky country is the kind of stuff Spacebrother WOULD be playing if he were here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm
Austin Rich:

That's rad! I've only read about the SUNY system.

I sort of miss command line computing. There was something very simple about it, that was easy to pick up put could make very complex programs. In a way, modern computers make LESS sense to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm

I was gonna say, Mr. Fab: Sheena can tell there should be some Krazy Country!
