I can stay at the facility I'm at rent-free and work, and save money for nyc, or just leave this winter, as my mental health can't take it here much longer. So, I'll probably work remotely here for a few months, save $$$, then move to nyc.

I'd normally say she'd have some good contacts for you, but unfortunately the only time we see those people anymore are at their retirement parties. Most were MD state employees and they've taken their pensions and run to Delaware.

	♥ 4:35pm slugluv1313: @ngh -- yes, exactly! my observation is that the best advocates/counselors/etc. are those who have been in similar situations -- substance abuse, survivors of trafficking, DV, sexual assault, etc., veterans experiencing PTSD, etc. -- a lot of the social workers may have advanced degrees and such, which is great -- but they have NO idea what it is like to have experienced whatever some of the social work type jobs at The Innocence Project describe the reentry process, and how to advocate and support those who are coming out of prison after being exonerated -- and this process is frighteningly similar to that for those who are coming out of DV situations and trafficking

	♥ 4:35pm slugluv1313: @ngh -- yes, exactly! my observation is that the best advocates/counselors/etc. are those who have been in similar situations -- substance abuse, survivors of trafficking, DV, sexual assault, etc., veterans experiencing PTSD, etc. -- a lot of the social workers may have advanced degrees and such, which is great -- but they have NO idea what it is like to have experienced whatever some of the social work type jobs at The Innocence Project describe the reentry process, and how to advocate and support those who are coming out of prison after being exonerated -- and this process is frighteningly similar to that for those who are coming out of DV situations and trafficking
