First time at Max’s May ‘73 (I went over and talked to him between sets. Shaking hands with Wolf was one of the greatest moments in my life). Second time was later that year at Avery Fisher (or Philharmonic Hall). Triple bill with Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee and Mose Allison. A friend of mine sat on Wolf’s knee backstage at Ann Arbor in ‘69, and there’s a photo of it! I wish my meeting with Wolf was captured in a photo, but it’s deep in my soul regardless.

Guess what, Now I'm an old fogey who is hard-wired to react in ways that might be considered inappropriate by todays callow youth. I just read an interview that Bob Dylan said, and I'm paraphrasing here "I own the '60's, but the sixties are like the civil war."

I also have a TJ's WFMU story. I had coffee with Uncle Michael when he was in the area a few years ago. He dropped me off at the nearby TJ's before doing his own shopping and heading out. I spied a friend in line and so I mentioned that I'd just had coffee with a WFMU DJ. The customer in front of him in line turned and exclaimed, "There's a WFMU DJ in town?!" She had worked extensively at the UC Berkeley radio station, KALX, and so she knew well the legacy of WFMU.

@doctorjazz: Per Discogs, "The "Morris On" series includes the following albums : Morris On (1972), Son Of Morris On (1976), Grandson Of Morris On (2002), Great Grandson Of Morris On (2004), Morris On The Road (2005). None of these albums are credited to a seemingly "Morris On" band (who doesn't really exist as an entity), but several compilations have used this moniker to simplify the credit (or by ignorance)." I can neither confirm nor deny.

last t-shirt notice/inquiry i had was in sf on the "stay tuned forever" design: "what's that, a radio station?". there was no time to talk and i answered "yeah, it's great!"

It's also great seeing the bumper sticker on car's in different places. I've seen it in a batch of states, on both coasts, etc.

Got into some conversations about WFMU, wore my station gear most of the time at the Solid Sounds Festival in Mass this past May, some passionate folks there.
Thanks Bob, great show, dug it!

A deaner is an uber James Dean fan. Well theres a little more to it than that, but to keep it short yesterday was his 67th death anniversary when he bought it at the intersection of highways 41 and 466 at a desert town called cholame Cali.

Although I have a strong interest in James Dean I'm definitely not a deaner. But Bob, I was just wondering as late as it is if you knew that would you have played a song in his memory.

I think my brain always believed 'Too Late to Turn Back Now' was Paul Jones from Manfred Man !
It's informative for me (also in my ignorance) that Stravinsky flat out composed things he called Rags !
...Only had time for the first half of this Archive this morning - but I will say already :
