Actually no. I bought it on Friday, but I didn't cover it so it was already pretty dried out. I rehydrated it in covered pan. Worked fine.

Cleaned out the rest of the old apt of the filthy floodwater nastiness now that the water finally drained. Might be able to move back by the end of the month, landlord had insurance.

@franco: true. As soon as the power came on, the A/C was put on full blast to keep mold from growing. And it wasn't hot after the storm either, highs in the 80s, and autumnal lows in the mid 60s (the coolest yet), the air is somewhat dry (for FL).

I actually had a FT interview for a remote job while cleaning up after the hurricane Thursday, i had to apologize for my appearance, and keep it short before my phone ran out of power.

@sara: not sure how familiar you're w/ Ft Lauderdale, but past Perry, there's a redneck town, Davie. Years and years ago I went there to a roadhouse to see a shoegaze band a wannabe smiths band. In the parking lot there were big rigs w/ confederate flags. it was surreal, didn't expect it so close to Ft Lauderdale.

so, still w/o power friday, me a four other volunteers were had to run to the homeless shelter to keep it running (we had emergency sleeping on the cafeteria floors along w/ our regulars in the dorm). I used my laptop, phone w/ a generator to keep the place running, whle others kept sanity, and people fed, etc. One older gentleman, recognized my WFMU tee-shirt, and said he had the giant bumper sticker on his truck (the one from 2002 when it accidentally came back from the shop too big). First wfmu recognition in the wild at the shelter, and it was post hurricane, when I was w/o sleep, unshowered, and probably filthy, like everyone else....
