	🦭 ♥ 10:43pm Jill A: LD agree with Kat in Chicago, maybe find a different dentist. I have severe dentist anxiety and I adore my current dentist. I put off getting a nightguard for years because a dentist in Austin tried to sell me one for $1K with insurance not covering it. i was completely shocked when the custom one I got here only cost $150ish and was included in my insurance.

	♥ 10:46pm northguineahills: @LD: the lake behind my apt rose a good 15 feet (15" of rain in a day will do that, 3" in one hour) and woke at 5am to seeing the water pouring over my sandbags and slowly percolating into my apt. When all was said and done, my apt was knee deep in water. Luckily, the landlord moved me to a temp apt on the 2nd floor next door. half the size, and still under construction (just some grout on the floor, baseboards not finished, and no closet, yet, but it's dry.). Only went 36 hours w/o power (it mercifully went off before the water rose to the level of light sockets.) I should be able to move back to my old place by the first week of november (went by last night and they had already gutted the place)

	🦭 ♥ 10:49pm Jill A: @Kat two weeks ago went on an onsite (academic librarian, so an onsite is a multi-day event) and was increasingly puzzled as the day went on -- in the last meeting I was told two things that were total dealbreakers that should have been told to me in the first interview if not before. Now waiting for dates for an onsite elsewhere -- they've given me the presentation topic but not the dates, which is weird af. I sort of feel like the jobs that are open now are the ones that people fled during the pandemic 🤪

	♥ 10:52pm northguineahills: it was volunteering at the homeless shelter that drained me. I had to run through the flood water to get to the shelter, to help keep it up and running after the storm. We had the cafeteria open for people off the street for sleeping. These are the people who usually avoid shelters, so discipline/sanitation/sanity was an issue. They were mostly dry (and kept fed). I was left by my lonesome to look after our regular clients who are generally well behaved, so, I was under a shelter w/ a generator, my laptop and phone, and keeping basic services and stuff moving back and forth from noon to midnight each day. Tuesday, I got a day off and slept 16 hours, and now, everything is back to normal.

I put off getting a nightguard for years because a dentist in Austin tried to sell me one for $1K with insurance not covering it. i was completely shocked when the custom one I got here only cost $150ish and was included in my insurance.

	♥ 10:46pm northguineahills: @LD: the lake behind my apt rose a good 15 feet (15" of rain in a day will do that, 3" in one hour) and woke at 5am to seeing the water pouring over my sandbags and slowly percolating into my apt. When all was said and done, my apt was knee deep in water. Luckily, the landlord moved me to a temp apt on the 2nd floor next door. half the size, and still under construction (just some grout on the floor, baseboards not finished, and no closet, yet, but it's dry.). Only went 36 hours w/o power (it mercifully went off before the water rose to the level of light sockets.) I should be able to move back to my old place by the first week of november (went by last night and they had already gutted the place)

	🦭 ♥ 10:49pm Jill A: @Kat two weeks ago went on an onsite (academic librarian, so an onsite is a multi-day event) and was increasingly puzzled as the day went on -- in the last meeting I was told two things that were total dealbreakers that should have been told to me in the first interview if not before. Now waiting for dates for an onsite elsewhere -- they've given me the presentation topic but not the dates, which is weird af. I sort of feel like the jobs that are open now are the ones that people fled during the pandemic 🤪

	♥ 10:52pm northguineahills: it was volunteering at the homeless shelter that drained me. I had to run through the flood water to get to the shelter, to help keep it up and running after the storm. We had the cafeteria open for people off the street for sleeping. These are the people who usually avoid shelters, so discipline/sanitation/sanity was an issue. They were mostly dry (and kept fed). I was left by my lonesome to look after our regular clients who are generally well behaved, so, I was under a shelter w/ a generator, my laptop and phone, and keeping basic services and stuff moving back and forth from noon to midnight each day. Tuesday, I got a day off and slept 16 hours, and now, everything is back to normal.
