Anyways, the kitten will eventually wear himself out again, probably. The older cats are asleep so he's trying to find something to do.

Only once have I 'written' something that a person with a more powerful voice sang. Don't know how people more accustomed to that ride feel - but I found it quite remarkable...

Covers do have an advantage in that they have an updated sound, which can be appealing to the tastes which are current.
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
Recordings unless spontaneous maybe just one Interpretation - & perhaps artificial or sterile @ that compared to Live. & often the Band / Artist themselves finds it 'opens up' more later ...so why not someone else doing the same for it?

@Phillippe: For instance Badfinger are marvelous, but their 'Without You' fails for just not hitting the note Nilsson can...
Phillippe:

- but then there's Wilson Pickett's hey jude, and the beatles' rock & roll music, and both Aretha's and Mavis' the weight, and Harry Nilsson's without you, and big blood's planet caravan - well that one's close. . .
but i always like hearing an original cover

...and i often don't like the watered-downness of studio recordings; but often the live performances area compromises from the initial idea the composer had for the piece.

There are "live" albums and "live" albums. Warren Dewey, who engineered Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus told me how he spent time with Lowell in the studio redoing the solos.
