Here’s one for folks - really special music that got you through a hard time and now it’s hard to listen to because it reminds you of that time.

For me, there are two in particular; Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Bach’s The Passion According to St. Matthew.

Anyone like to share theirs?

I first got into dance through a dancer. She was into jazz and classical, so I got into ballet and Ailey. But soon I was eyeing more contemporary stuff. Heartbreak just pushed me further. I haven't seen her in decades, but I've seen hundreds of dance shows. Contemporary dance is probably even more a core part of me than WFMU, and that's saying something

Bob, similarly for me about Laura Nyro and my first (not unrequited) flame. I think I’ve told you that she claimed to be Laura’s cousin. I didn’t believe it for decades until Al Gore invented the Internet, and I learned from Wikipedia that Laura’s mother’s maiden name was Mirsky—same as my short-lived girlfriend’s surname.

I'm going to guess that the "Yes It Is" you played last week is likely to be the contemporaneous release by The Ginks on a Beatles tribute album. It sounds K-TEL to me, and while I haven't heard the Ginks track, I think it might be worth tracking down for comparison. The version by The In-Sect is mighty close, but not identical to last week's track.
