Favoriting November 5, 2022: Che Chen has been an energetic presence in NYC’s experimental underground as a band leader, improviser and show organizer since moving here in the early 2000s.
He takes a non-specialist's approach to double bass, hand drums, violin, flute, etc and plays guitar in 75 Dollar Bill. He also organizes the monthly concert series Fire Over Heaven at Outpost Artist Resources in Ridgewood. http://chechen.bandcamp.com/

When Science Fiction came out I had no idea who Asha Puthli was but I "think" her pop success had not happened yet.

Not sure. Maybe he was there in '82? I was always over on the music end of things with Mr. Dobberstein (who we all called Doberman because he kind of drooled when directing the orchestra and the spittle would go flying all over the first row of the flute section).

@Doug, that sounds rough. When I was there the music teacher was an Australian guy, former body builder. his name escapes me at the moment. I wasn't in band, but he let me play double bass in the practice rooms while i was skipping my other classes :)

Repeatedly in rehearsals while Mr. Dobberstein was working with one section on a particular passage, he would tell everyone else in the orchestra, "Now I want all the rest of you to finger your parts." Then we would all crack up, and he was oblivious.
