Becky, I don't know if you've ever seen my MOJO bubblegum playlist, but I've always considered Steve Wynn's "Tuesday" a kind of modern-day bubblegum tune. The Cure's "Friday I'm in Love" strikes me that way too, although it sounds more like a Herman's Hermits song.

Becky, terrific pairing of "Tapeworm" and "All My Friends Are Insects"! And yes, I did interview Tom, years ago, but unfortunately I never wrote it up. I enjoyed speaking with him--he was very kind and had a terrific memory.

Actually, now that I think about, I'm pretty sure I did use some of my Tom Dawes material for a MOJO article on the Beatles' last concert.

We had a nice lunch with Tom and Dan when I lived in NY, Dawn. They were just the nicest guys and they had the best stories. I felt like they had charmed lives—went from college to musical careers easily and then the ad world.

Becky - I really love the Dawes jingles! They do have that Cyrkle feel.

Great to hear about your lunch with Tom and Don. That sounds like so much fun.

It does seem like the Cyrkle led charmed lives, especially in that they left the pop world without suffering bitterness, addictions, etc.

I guess you know that Tom's wife, or his then-wife, was Ginny Good of the Wes Farrell-produced Good & Plenty, who recorded a number of Tony Romeo tunes? Haven't listened to them in a while, but if I recall correctly, their best song IMHO is "Living in a World of Make-Believe." There's also a terrific song by the same title, or nearly the same title, by one of John Carter's studio groups of the early 1970s.
