AGREED. Unfortunately it looks like people will vote for fascists if they promise a cheaper gallon of gas. I volunteered and knocked on a few doors today and I figure, what else can I do? Oh well!

Katy_bar_the_door:

If you can scrounge it up, you can buy citizenship in Dominica or St Lucia for 100k.

Not saying give up on your home country, but if it gets silly, a Plan B is not a bad idea.
Avatar 🎙 Swag For Life Member 12:36am
_Ike_:

In NY state, we have "fusion voting" which means you can vote for Hochul on the Working Families Party line instead of the D line and it counts just as much, so if you want register your complaints w/her from the left without letting a MAGA maniac win, you can do that and it will still go towards her total.

Also, if you have heritage from another nation, you can sometimes get citizenship by decent.

I got citizenship from Spain a while back that way.

My best friend Jeannie sacrificed her life for the right of citizens to vote in Westchester County from 1990 - 2020 elections.
She's now in a nursing home as a Long Haul COVID victim.

She will never be the same.

She did not receive the virus at work rather from her son who works for emergency services transmitted it to her.
I guess my point is VOTE Tuesday

Jim the Poet:

I had to move to New York when my roommate died at Xmas
Avatar 🎙 Swag For Life Member 12:44am
Ike:

Whoa, bummer! As another former NJ resident who made the move, I've started to think NY is now *less* corrupt than NJ. NY has had lots of progressive reformers successfully primarying dusty old Dems. NJ can't get it together for that, esp. because of its corrupt "County Line" ballot design, which subtly discourages voting for challengers in primaries through weird graphic design tricks.
Avatar 🎙 Swag For Life Member 12:49am
Ike:

Well, maybe it's not "graphic design", IDK. But those approved by the NJ machine get a much better spot on the ballot in the D primary. Challengers get stranded in a bizarre sea of white space. In NY, none of this crap. Ballot placement is *random*, baby!
Avatar 🎙 Swag For Life Member 12:55am
Ike:

I meant NOW. Not historically.

Yeah, there are still remnants of Tammany Hall around, like with the official Brooklyn Dem Party, a real wretched hive of scum and villainy... but outnumbered by reform groups.
Avatar 🎙 Swag For Life Member 12:56am
Ike:

(Democratic reform groups, I mean)
Avatar 12:59am

Infiltrate and reform the system don’t give up on it , fascism is bread by apathy .

I've noticed that pretty much every political ad is "Don't vote for the other person. If that person wins, it'll be a disaster." None of them tell you what they plan to accomplish.

Any Travail I do is by accident!πŸ»πŸ˜ŽπŸ€™
Avatar 🎙 Swag For Life Member 1:06am
Ike:

@KfHP, unfortunately 30-second TV and radio political ads aren't an ideal vehicle. It's a lot easier to smear the other side in 30 sec. than to lay out a complex plan for improving society.

@Paul, a truly breathtaking display of incredibly lazy cynicism, like a grade-Z South Park knockoff.

You can't say the Dems haven't accomplished anything in NJ and NY unless maybe you don't like weed. (And there's early voting, we finally got that in NY recently, but if you don't vote, you'd never know.)
