Brand new and amazing release on Mr Bongo! A really nice synthesis of classic MPB with some updated elements. Sessa does a guest vocal on one track which I played a few weeks ago.

WR:

Hi Nick, lotsa interesting samba adjacent sounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
Gaylord Fields:

Nick, I need to get into some sorta Mr Bongo Record of the Month Club — 10 LPs for 99¢!
Avatar 7:44pm
djnogoodnick:

Yeah Gaylord! They have made a decade of buying cheap compilations of my favorite Brazilian artists redundant by reissuing all the best tracks on 45.
Avatar 7:45pm
djnogoodnick:

Hi WR! Yes, samba adjacent indeed hehe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
WR:

While some of the first set was adjacent, you've jumped all the way into the pool now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm
Mark Hurst:

That was a great set, thanks, djnogoodnick!
Avatar 8:02pm
djnogoodnick:

Thanks WR--Yeah I always go for mood rather than a defined "this must be xx music".

Clube da Esquina is if some omnipotent entity reached into the musical cortices of my brain and decided to create an album out of what it found.
Avatar 8:24pm
djnogoodnick:

I agree, it's more of a feeling than a genre.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
WR:

Hermato!
Not quite the 10 LPs for 99¢ Gaylord is wistful for, Hermeto has had a digital deal of 10 LPs for $40

Everybody loves Compost
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
WR:

The two Compost LPs that came out on Columbia that I remember, I love. I worked in record store in Texas when they came out and we hardly sold any. I was disappointed.

Unrelated, I don't see that anyone in this playlist noted, RIP Gal Costa (though I may have not heard if you mentioned it in your back announce, Nick). Thank you, Gal, for so much beautiful music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm
Gaylord Fields:

Thanks for a great Sunday samba show, Nick!
Avatar 8:59pm
djnogoodnick:

Yes indeed. RIP Gal--did mention that at the last break. She was the inspiration for this episode
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm
WR:

Thank you! Nick. The episode today has helped me much.
