Place orange, hole-side up, between mandrill's fearsome jaws, and bid him squeeze into chilled Collins glass. Top up with ice.

	1:54pm adamdoesit: AiT! Listener Robert, as it happens, your mandrel drilling suggestion hews to the spirit of the original. When the Mandrill Press was first introduced at the Stork, the recipe called for fixing the orange on a mandrel, and letting the mandrill's fearsome jaws do the drilling. The problem then was getting the Glen Passaic into the orange. After bartender Lefty Carruthers lost the fingers of his dominant hand and gained his nickname, the spade bit was adopted as a safety measure.

Saw some quite late version of them once. It was okay. Not suer remarkable - two drummers is a certain thing. But since ...much rather see Derek Trucks.

	3:49pm StringOFperils: So great to hear this material today; to be honest, I'm kind of shocked at how much I'm liking it. Really democratic band sound, even with the astonishing built-in solos. the really play TOGETHER, and it simmers and cooks just like it did back then.

	🥁 3:56pm WR: Interesting memory lane revisit. I cringed when hearing that your other feature bday artist today is Duane Allman, mostly because I was way way over exposed 70 to 74. But you've played a nice variety of well and lessor known recordings. It's a pleasing revisit. Thank you, Stork.

	4:02pm Dean: A band recently played on WFMU in my experience for the first time, Epitaph, was obviously deeply influenced by the Allman/Betts approach to harmony in rock guitar playing. But Epitaph is a German band typically associated with prog rock.

	4:12pm Dean: Discogs trivia: "The Weight", as originally recorded by The Band for their 1968 debut album Music From Big Pink, was used in the film, but couldn't be licensed for the soundtrack. To deal with this, ABC-Dunhill commissioned Smith (3), to record a cover version of the song for the soundtrack album.

	1:54pm adamdoesit: AiT! Listener Robert, as it happens, your mandrel drilling suggestion hews to the spirit of the original. When the Mandrill Press was first introduced at the Stork, the recipe called for fixing the orange on a mandrel, and letting the mandrill's fearsome jaws do the drilling. The problem then was getting the Glen Passaic into the orange. After bartender Lefty Carruthers lost the fingers of his dominant hand and gained his nickname, the spade bit was adopted as a safety measure.

Saw some quite late version of them once. It was okay. Not suer remarkable - two drummers is a certain thing. But since ...much rather see Derek Trucks.

To deal with this, ABC-Dunhill commissioned Smith (3), to record a cover version of the song for the soundtrack album.
