Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from December 16, 2022 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Love this Selector! (RSV has been around as long as I can remember, but it really is considered problematic in infants and toddlers. Generally, older kids and adults get cold/respiratory virus symptoms that look like all the other respiratory viruses out there, and it resolves on its own (there's no treatment or vaccine for it). Usually only hospitalized childrenj got tested for it, since you really can't treat it anyway.

Brian Eno famously rushed into the Berlin recording studio where he and David Bowie were working on creating new futures for music, waving a copy of “I Feel Love.” “This is it, look no further,” Eno declared breathlessly. “This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next 15 years.”

Disappointed not to hear Minnie Riperton on that Rotary Connection rendition of a John Sebastian classic. Bit it is kind of a solo number. And the 5th Dimension's take on Laura Nyro's "He 's A Runner" was pretty lame. David Clayton Thomas earns more points for his swing at it on "Blood, Sweat and Tears 3." Standby -- found the REAL story!

The film tells the story of two students who teamed up to bring the bands to Staples.

"Dick Sandhaus ran for junior-class president. His big campaign promise was that he was going to have the best junior prom ever and would make it free. Then he won and he said, 'How am I going to pull this off?'" Cantor said in a phone interview. "He got the idea, 'Why not put on a rock concert?'"

With fellow student Paul Gambaccini, Sandhaus pitched the idea to the board of education, got some funding and began cold-calling talent agencies in New York using the Yellow Pages. Sandhaus befriended one agent, who helped him book the Beau Brummels for the first concert. Sandhaus and Gambaccini had to plead with local youth bands to loan their sound equipment. That concert played in the school's auditorium went smoothly and sold out, so the agent who befriended Sandhaus was receptive to booking other bands....
