As a part time Kiwi, I have some exposure to accents and differences in pronunciations. So my 2 cents: From an American I'd imagine pronouncing it "Mel-bun" would sound forced to an Australian (or New Zealander). I would still pronounce it "Mel-burn", but barely pronounce the "R". Don't drop the "R" completely. (To an ear from down under, we yanks exaggerate "R"s)

As a part time Kiwi, I have some exposure to accents and differences in pronunciations. So my 2 cents: From an American I'd imagine pronouncing it "Mel-bun" would sound forced to an Australian (or New Zealander). I would still pronounce it "Mel-burn", but barely pronounce the "R". Don't drop the "R" completely. (To an ear from down under, we yanks exaggerate "R"s)
