Haha, Vagenta. Kinda related: I once went to shake shake. Looked at my receipt. Server was Kiki. I’m herb. Kiki and Herb! I saw their Dec 3 beacon theater show. Very fun and non-pc

Did my parents have it on vinyl and play it a lot? Was it in heavy rotation on the Beautiful Muzak radio station my folks used to spackle in the holes in our souls? Was it actually a popular hit at some point?
Anyway... every note is deeply familiar, and whether or not my introduction to it was trauma-adjacent it was genuinely comforting.
The magic of nostalgia.

The wikiwiki begins:
Paul Julien André Mauriat (4 March 1925 – 3 November 2006) was a French orchestra leader, conductor of Le Grand Orchestre de Paul Mauriat, who specialized in the easy listening genre. He is best known in the United States for his million-selling remake of André Popp's "Love is Blue", which was number 1 for 5 weeks in 1968.

Elsewhere there's a beautiful picture of him with his moustache wearing a safari-style leisure suit.
