Horslips is one of my favorite bands. I'm de-lurking to defend them preemptively, in advance. An Irish band has the right to take any influence they want from an English band that's appropriated Irish folk music, as Jethro Tull did. And I don't hate Jethro Tull, but I like Horslips a lot more.

Horslips was a bunch of folk guys who also wanted to rock, and they realized, when they heard other bands like Jethro Tull succeeding commercially doing both, that they could do both.

I didn't mean for it to sound like I was arguing, so I apologize for giving that impression.

I just love Horslips. Well, and Thin Lizzy and the Undertones and Stiff Little Fingers, so.... Umm... Yeah, you see my prejudices...

But go ahead and say whatever you want about U2! 🤣🤣🤣

Wouldn’t be surprised.

Haven’t kept up with that scene in a long time. But just from cursory looking around during travels around the city in the decade and a half since those days.

I would say a good amount of them don’t exist anymore or have changed names. Hardly any of them have regular live music, and certainly don’t pay much. Which is insane. Because even then bands didn’t make much money. Which will surprise no one here.

↳ Song: "Way" by "Clearlight"
I've never heard Clearlight before, I don't think.

I love Gong, I've read about Didier Malherbe also being in Clearlight.

Didier Malherbe has to perfect last name ("bad weed") for Gong.
