Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from February 24, 2023 Favoriting

Rich in Washington's avatar View Rich in Washington's profile Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Rich, I was thinking of donating some CD's over to you a way to help out during the marathon. I've got some doozies for you that might fit in well with your format here and on your "Lost And Found" show on KBOO. Should I send them c/o KBOO or should I defer to Station Manager Ken at the motherstation?

I guess we'll never see David Fincher's movie of that, I'm not sure I'm disappointed. I don't know who could make it right, but I'm not convinced he has the humor for it.

one of the perks of having a friend who does a comic artist radio interview program is getting tipped off when cool artists are in the station and getting to meet them.

<looks at spreadsheet> I haven't featured the comp yet. Chronologically, it's coming up, but I am reasonably certain that I've played track from it, if not that Fisk track.

It's been interesting collecting and listening to these comps, as they get less outré over time and more in tangent with what would become 'grunge'.

I remember hearing this song lots on college/indie radio back in the day, just before he got HUGE (by 80s indy standards).

I did not know Wax Trax Records had a distro deal with Sub Pop. That would partly explain how they grew to be one of the leaders of underground music in the 90's.

Just learned through the Wikipedia entry on the label that the daughter of one of the label's founders not only reopened the original store, but also produced a film about the label's history called "INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT". Anybody know where I can find it? Is it on a streaming service?

I bought a huge chunk of Wax Trax product during the 90's when industrial was my jam.
Still have the bulk of what I had then, though I sold off some stuff, like all the KMFDM maxis I owned (except for their split remix CD with My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult).

I just found an instant My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult collection at the Goodwill a couple of months ago. Fun to revisit that stuff! Look for it on an upcoming show.

I was always team RRR in the 90s, as far as that kind of thing goes, I don't regret it.
