Your description of The Starlost sounds like the Banana Splits on Modafinil. www.imdb.com... Kier Dullea starred in it. Sterling Hayden (not Canadian) and John Collicos (another Canadian) were among the guest stars.

My wife and I saw Shatner at the Star Trek TOS Museum in Ticonderoga. Every time he saw my wife he did a double take. I think she reminded him of his wife that drowned.
  4:27am
Listener Terry:

Shatner seems like he can be a world-class Asshole, but he’s given some indelible performances. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert with Ben Folds and Rollins. His version of “Common People “ is in the running for Greatest Cover of All Time. (Joe Jackson sang the chorus at the show!)

Shatner also plays an anti-Kirk in another Corman production: "Big Bad Mama" When O was younger and more ornery I used to get a kick out of Kirk taking a roll with Angie Dickinson. Nowadays, it would shatter my grandfatherly image of him. LOL!

When I worked in London in 2000, one of the mid-level managers was a former captain in the British Army. His surname was Kirk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52am
JReganK:

The story as I understand it was that Shatner literally owned the shirt on his back after his wife divorced him. He was doing summer stock in a camper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57am
Strandlund:

"IMPULSE" (1974), is a great Shatner movie. Here is a synopsis:
"A paranoid, leisure-suit-wearing conman/gigolo named Matt Stone seduces lonely women, bilks them of their savings via an investment scam, then kills them. When he begins seeing an attractive widow, her daughter Tina becomes suspicious of his motives."
It's a fun movie and his wardrobe in the movie would make a pimp blush.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02am
Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I watched about 10 minutes of Airplane II: The Sequel! then noped out of it. Even Shatner couldn't save it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03am
JReganK:

↳ Listener Terry @4:27
From all accounts, Shat has a big ego but, he also has an appreciation for nature. I heard him tell a story about him going through a broke period and contemplating the sale of his home. He would walk around on his property and zone out. He said he witnessed a lizard standing in a stream, that ran through his place, catching water in his mouth. He said that by any means necessary he would sell the place. When we saw him upstate. He changed the subject from the usual Star Trek crap to talk about the innate intelligence of nature. The duality of Shat, I guess. LOL!

HA HA HA HA! No, I was stuck living with a man I despised, and we were broke and couldn't afford pet food, but I smoked a pack and a half a day and he smoked two to three packs a day, so I realized we were terrible people with bad priorities. Even just the suggestion to cut down was met with anger and refusal. so I quit cold turkey.
