That sounds totally ridiculous. But it was basically like this, except with Captain Kangaroo in place of David Bowie. And perhaps a few silly sounds added? I haven't heard to in 50 years.

I loved that Peter & The Wolf rendition with David Bowie! I didn't know the Wolf theme was used in The Christmas Story! "Scott Farcush! He had yellow eyes! So help me, he had YELLOW EYES!!!"
Also, Peter's theme, was the beginning of the Double Dip Recess theme! I kept expecting it to go "D-D-D-D-Dip Reeeeccessssss!"
